I got both and the 4Runner interior seems a bit dated. But it’s more comfortable. I would have two 4runners if I didn’t need the bed on my 3rd gen Tacoma. I love my Tacoma a lot but I like the way my 4Runner drives better.

    Too few to list.
Don’t have a pro but had a 3rd gen auto, kept the 2nd gen and TR4. 3rd gen interior of course is nicer but I chose driveability. Unless Tacoma Pro is a manual, I wouldn’t even consider it.

Yeah, 3rd gen might be fix with a tune but 2nd gen and tr4 didn’t need it, shifts and drives fine. Someone here mentioned tr4 and 3rd gen was similar in power?! Numberwise yes, but go on an extended test drive and find out for yourself.

I have both. Love having the open bed on the Tacoma, but it's really nice traveling with the wife and kids in the T4R. The interior is older, but more comfortable and larger on the T4R. The Tacoma has nice tech features.

I had several (5) Tacoma's over the last 20 years then got a 3rd gen (2018) and didn't like it at all. It felt underpowered on the interstate (worse gas mileage at 75mph than my 2nd gens because it wanted to drop to 4th gear all the time). And the constant shifting on the highway drove me nuts (even after the tsb).

Traded it for a 2019 t4r and am much happier. People complain about it being outdated and I felt that way for about the first week after trading the Tacoma. But that's just an appearance thing. It's a radio. And I don't even notice it anymore. A small sacrifice for a truck that feels much more powerful and is much more comfortable, especially on the highway.

the t4r is more comfortable and bigger inside. the power band is more linear.
the tacoma sport suspension is more firm compared to the 4r. i noticed the tacoma
has a tighter turning radius compared to the 4r even though its a little bit longer.
if i had to pick one it would be the tacoma, it also drives much better after the tsb.
yes i would rather have the 4.0 engine with the oil filter on the top if i had the choice.
still very happy and would buy it again.

I have both. A 2018 tacoma trd sport 4x4 and a 2018 toyota 4runner offroad 4x4. Love them both. If i had to choose just one it would be a hard choice. Put it this way you wont be getting stuck anytime soon when you own both. Ha

What would you say are the biggest differences as a daily driver goes between the two?

4Runner sits higher and has more comfortable adjustable seats. The struts on the 4runner are too soft so the nose dive is annoying on heavy braking. Solved with any decent front end upgrade. I did toytec boss on mine.

Tacoma has the edge on gas mileage but not by much.

Lights on the 4runner are slightly better. The tacoma halogens suck. HID upgrade is really required on the taco. A cheap incremental upgrade for the 4runner is the Phillips bulbs. See https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U1OIESK/

More dry, secure interior space in the 4runner. If you have children, the 4runner wins.

The 4runner engine and tranny are smoother though it sounds like the 2019 taco has improvements I haven’t had a chance to try. The taco is faster and more stable tow platform.

Wife’s commute is going from 130 miles a day to 8 in January so thinking about dumping her Prius and getting into a T4r...anyone have pics of 2 baby seats installed in the back? Curious how it fits

I own both 2019 Cement Tacoma Trd Off Road 4x4 M/T and 2018 White 4Runner Trd Off Road 4X4 A/T. I will say they’re a blast having both. Different in their own ways.

There is PLENTY of room for 2 car seats in the back of a T4R. When I put the kids car seats in the T4R the first time- That's when I really noticed the size difference between the two vehicles. The difference is a big one.

The Tacoma is much "zippier" in town than the T4R. It drives/feels more like a small car. The 4runner feels more like a truck and you can feel the low end torque- it also sits higher.

The 4runner seats are MUCH more comfortable to me than the Tacoma seats. And they are way more adjustable/customizable (if you're short- the runner is better). The Tacoma seat has no up/down. The 4runner is electric and goes anywhere you want it to go. And it has electric lumbar support. And heated seats.

In town, I like the zippy driving feel of the taco. But the runner is much more comfortable seating to me.

To me: the ONLY thing better about the 3rd gen Tacoma than the 4runner is the bed. I drove Tacoma's for 20 years and I liked having a mid size pickup. Loved my 2nd gens. But I was disappointed in the 3rd gen. Traded it for a 4runner after 2 months. In all other ways than the bed, I prefer the 4runner, as far as 3rd gen Tacoma vs. 5th gen T4R.

Would have gotten the 2019 4runner Pro if it wasn't so dated. The platform is a dinosaur compared to the 3rd gen Tacoma.

What do you mean by "the platform"? The tacoma head unit has a nicer display and it has TSS. That's about it? Is there anything else?

Personally, I didn't like the tss in the Tacoma. I'm sure it's safer, but I didn't like it at all. And I'd take the T4R 4.0 over the 3.5 + wonky transmission in a heartbeat.

Personal preferences. I know a lot of people love their 3rd gens.
