New headlights....

It has come to my attention that they are a bit dim. What should I get as a replacement? It’s just the bulb, not the housing that I should probably replace. It’s not fogged up or anything

The rest depends on your budget. There are some pretty cool ways to get a lot of extra light using some brighter OSRAM bulbs, but because they burn brighter, they don't last as long. To get a little extra brightness, you can do the "ultimate upgrade" which includes using an upgraded wiring harness that gets voltage directly from the battery with thicker wires, so even if you don't change your bulbs, the light does get brighter (more volts supplied).

I've been running some Sylvanias and they do fine. But I also have brand new (they were brand new 2 years ago, that is...) CAPA certified housings from RockAuto, and the upgraded wire harness. I'm very happy with it.

If you still need any more light, and you'll be venturing into the "not DOT legal" territory (actually the proper upgrade isn't technically legal, either). At that point, get some LED lightbars for the roof or bumper and only use them off-road...

I left my headlights halogen. Changed my fogs to LED’s, they fill in without blinding oncoming traffic.

 

I don’t even have spots for fog lights

 

There are a lot of cool things you can do for that. If you modify your corner marker lights to house the turn signals, too, you can replace the old turn signals with LED fogs. You usually have to do a bit of fabricating to mount them, but the results are pretty cool.

I did the turn signal mod, but because I was removing my lower bumper valance for off-road clearance.

Here, you can see that I drilled holes in the corner lights. Then cut off the bulb mounts from the turn signals and epoxied them in place.

 

Very tempting but I don’t have the “know how” to do fabrications. So basically I just need to make sure I get halogen bulbs?

 

I'm using Hella HB2's halogens for headlights. They are brighter than stock and last a few years. Sylvania makes some very bright white/blue bulbs but they didn't last a year. Not sure what bulb a 1st gen uses.

I like my truck appearance to be pretty much stock, so these cheap little jewels were enough for me. I could easily drive on local roads at night without my headlamps, even though it's only like an additional 40Ws of light. I have them angled for "low beam" working height and separately switched. <$20.00 Amazon/China of course.

 

Looks good. I have at the locking rear differential so I can justify the lighbars I guess. Mod potential just keeps growing

 

I’ll prob go with these then since you recommend. What do you all think about those colored halo headlights

 

When it comes to vehicle lights I'm quite the minimalist. I don't care for the halos and RGB LEDs they have gone crazy with these days. It's a personal choice and some people like them but I don't. People like to Peacock with their truck though so I understand that.
