Was it called "gross anatomy" or did you just think it was gross? Is that like human autopsy?

I helped a motorist in need on my way home tonight, and I'm embarrassed to say that I don't even know where I was! It was on Dekalb Pike or Dekalb Street, in the middle of Norristown I believe. It wasn't the best area, but it wasn't exactly the ghetto either. I was coming up on the intersection of Dekalb and Main Street, and I saw this green and silver Chevy 1500 with the driver's door open and the hazards flashing. All of a sudden, the truck starts to roll back and the driver makes a mad dash for the brake pedal. I'm thinking the truck died due to electrical problems and immediately pull over to offer assistance.

The driver told me the truck was just out of gas, and that the nearest gas station is about two blocks away. I once pushed a dead Dodge Intrepid across four lanes of York Road to a gas station that was right there, but there was no way in hell we were getting that old Chevy to the gas station. Luckily, the guy had a 1-gallon gas can in the bed of the truck. I offered to drive to the nearest gas station and fill it up for him. I drove around a bit, found a gas station, and filled up the can.

I brought the gas back to the trio of stranded motorists, and was thanked profusely. I told the guy that the $3.28 worth of gas was on me, wished him happy holidays, and left once he got the truck started.

FYI, the truck that had run out of gas was a rare one. It was an approximately 1995-1998 Chevy C1500 extra cab short bed with the Silverado trim and a manual transmission. Most trucks with the Silverado trim were automatics, and very rarely do I ever see a half-ton extended cab with a manual transmission!

Why do people drive drunk? Back in October 2015, my truck was the only victim and I'd say both of us got off easy. I was completely uninjured, and my Tacoma had over two grand in damage but was driveable (though the tailgate would not open all the way). I am honestly glad that the drunk old fart hit my truck instead of a pedestrian, because a fender can be easily replaced while a human life cannot. My way of looking at it is that it's no different than going fishing; I caught a recidivist drunk driver with my truck, and nobody got hurt! Plus, I get to brag that my truck totaled some asshole's Mercedes!

Seriously, why do people drive drunk? We have Uber, Lyft, and untold numbers of taxi companies! There also nonprofit organizations with people who drive around in buses and vans, and will come and pick you up from just about any bar. As much as I HATE DUI CHECKPOINTS, believe them to be unconstitutional, and will go out of my way to avoid them, maybe they are a good thing. As someone who doesn't drink and drive, I'm still going out of my way to avoid them though!

As many know, I detail cars for a large family of dealerships. This morning, my first job was a base model 2009 Toyota Highlander V6. I'm 99% sure its front-wheel drive and not AWD, and it has over 91K miles, but it's in decent shape and the dealer wants about $13K for it.

    IMG_0615.jpg

Being a base model from well before the era when even a Chevy Cruze with crank windows had a backup camera, this model does not have a backup camera. However, it does have a pretty snazzy head unit with navigation...

    IMG_0613.jpg

The radio looks like an aftermarket unit made specifically for 2nd Gen Highlanders, but when the key is turned on the Toyota symbol appears.

    IMG_0618.jpg IMG_0619.jpg

Also, CD players were standard equipment on all Toyota models, but this Highlander clearly does not have one.

Here is an external GPS antenna, another clue that this head unit is aftermarket...

    IMG_0614.jpg

This Highlander also has an aftermarket sunroof...

Also, the aftermarket radio has not one or two, but three USB ports!

Drunk drivers suck, period. I got a DUI long ago, learned my lesson. Yes I still drink, responsibly. Acholalisim is a disease, like many obsessive compulsive behaviors. It is like any other disease, people do not choose to have it. It is what we choose to do about it. Driving is a privilege, not a right. People deserve a second chance in most situations, but a third, that’s a stretch. Just my humble opinion, TW is loaded with OCD, some good ,some very bad.

    Thanks! You too!

Also, you said you could wire up foglights in my truck to work like factory so some dickhead mechanic won't fail my truck for safety inspection?

Also, I would like to point out that I think safety inspections are good. It's the goddamn emissions testing I can't stand because (A) it costs me $60 a year, (B) the most well-maintained and even so-called "ULEV" and "PZEV" vehicles pollute, and (C) vehicles have come such a long way since federal emissions standards were introduced that the testing is all but pointless! However, even though my truck has never failed emissions testing or safety inspection and I probably haven't paid for a safety inspection in about 3-4 years, I still can't stand them because of all the nitpicky bullshit that can cause a vehicle to fail.

I have a pair of OEM fog lights and I had this green wiring connector but my dad might have accidentally thrown it out. What parts do I need to make it work?
