You can buy a Corolla and almost new for 15,000. My wife drives one and she does not want a new car. I wanted to buy her a new one but she loves her 2010.

As a former Nissan fanboy I vote no, the cvts are garbage better stuff out there. If was an xterra I'd say yes the 5speed autos in those an frontier are solid.
I still keep up with a titan forum most of the issues are with the xd. But that particular truck your wanting is a rocket ship for what it is an only issues ive read is early up shifting but reports say drive it with some gusto upon ownership or ecu reset to re-learn your driving habits an this corrects it.

Yeah I like the titan for the speed... A base model with a 5.9s 0-60 and 390 hp is what I want... Especially if reliable.

Yaris! If she's in college she doesn't have money to waste on gas.

I think that's too much $ for a student with no job. I know there are exceptions, but generally a cosmetic beater (that is mechanically reliable) makes the best college vehicle.

You're not looking old enough. I have an '04 Highlander with 130k that I'd put any family member in. And it would not price out as 'too much'.

OTOH, does she really need that size vehicle? There are may appliances that would get 50% more MPG, be safe, and a lot cheaper. Sentra/Altima/Maxima, Corolla/Camry, Civic/Accord, Elantra/Sonata are examples.

I also think you are a generous brother to be considering footing the bill here! I'm assuming the total was her fault and she was under insured, so no funds coming her way? If that is correct, could this be a good opportunity for a life lesson and responsibility taking too?

I love my Nissan's/Datsuns, have had 6 now. But I would get and older Pathy from when they were still SUVs not crossovers. I don't have much trust for those CVT they're using right now. Although the 2014 Maxima I had the CVT felt okay.
