Finally got my 2019 DCLB TRD OR truck exactly 1 month ago... last night I was involved an accident on the interstate. Would prefer not to discuss details at this stage. I believe everyone (including me) is pretty much OK given the speeds, impact, etc.

My adaptive cruise was set at ~74mph, and I slowed quite a bit while trying to avoid collision. But it was still a very hard impact, the front of my truck to side of an SUV, I believe. Thank goodness for the modern safety features, including front and side airbags.

My question: does anyone with experience or expertise in these matters have any opinoins about whether my truck will likely be totaled by the insurance companies? (Picture below, sorry it’s the only one I got so far).

I’m considering whether I should be trying to reserve a new one since it took me such a long time to get this one. Thanks in advance for any insights or advice.

Yeah probably. You can’t just slap new UHS steel on it. The bright side is that it’s a 19, there’s more where that came from.

If you order a truck and don't take delivery, the dealer might let you walk on it. I ordered a truck with a 6 week wait. They ordered it and three days later, I found the one I wanted locally. They ordered the truck and returned my deposit when I didn't buy the one I ordered. Ask them if the deposit is refundable if you don't want it on delivery.

But if it’s your fault, couldn’t the dash cam be used against you?

Although I had an airbag deployment on my 2006 when I hit a tire and rim on the Interstate, mine DID get repaired.
    BUT, in your case...f6c.jpg

Have it towed back to the dealer, angrily file a warranty claim. "What the hell, I had it parked in the grocery store lot, I just walked up and hit the unlock button and it EXPLODED! What kind of crackerjack-in-a-box operation are you running here!?!"

    Glad you're ok.

Dunno. Did it leak fluids? Manifold cracked? All this happened with my 08’ and it was 11k in damage, final conclusion was totaled.

Yours looks like it has more damage then mind did.

That's weird... my 06 had $12, 550 in damage, mostly in the suspension, and it was fixed!

Yep. It is in a better place now. Rejoice brothers and sisters, for one of our own rides with the Hiluxes in the pastures.

I am going to say 99.99999% it is totaled. glad you and the other person are ok though.

even if it isn't totaled, you don't want it fixed. that is A LOT of damage. frame is likely bent, so that alone would be a no go for me. but insurance companies are funny now days. my wife had a Nissan Leaf some years back, for 3 months. she was crossing the street right beside where she works and a lady in a Landcruiser hit the passenger side at well above the posted 35mph speed limit and completely destroyed the car (my wife was found at fault by the Trooper who stated she pulled out in front of the lady, which was total horse shit). every single seat in the car broke, all airbags deployed, every window in it broke except the rear window. frame was bent into an unfixable state. my buddy runs a body shop and said it was $45 away from being a total loss. I went by and knocked the rear glass out of it and said, well, now it's a total loss. he filed his claim with our insurance and it was done. no more Leaf.
