I'd like to hear people's thoughts on both the Wilco Hitchgate Solo (high clearance model) and the Wilco Tiregate VT. I'm trying to figure out which one I should choose. It has come down to one of these models.

For me, here are some of the reasons I'd go with one or the other...

    Hitchgate Solo
Pros: Removable, Keep the tailgate, Cheaper
Cons: Seems like it sticks out far, Have to relocate license plate.

    Tiregate VT
Pros: No need to relocate license plate, Integrated look/feel, doesn't stick out as far
Cons: Lose the surface space that a tailgate gives when down, More expensive

If you have one of these on your 3rd Gen Tacoma, please post your your experiences and a few pictures if you can. Thanks!

What did you end up thinking of the tiregate? For that price you can almost get a new rear bumper with a tire kickout.
