2002 xtra cab stock speakers upgrade suggestions?

looking at upgrading my stock front speakers, tweeters and rear panel speakers, any suggestions on what I should get? looking at getting 6.5 front and back, not sure on tweeters yet, what's a good setup? want the decent bass and clarity overall
I listen to country, rap, and hip hop

not really wanting to put in a sub as of right now, trying to not take up space

 

Head unit first, it will sound so much better with just that. Next would be a 4 channel amp replace stock speakers with component sets with x overs. Last if you still need more add a sub or 2. Last but not least 2 8in subs so you could still use the seats in a custom enclosure

 

what speaker brand do you think is good? i was looking at rockford fosgate but unsure

 

Fosgate if you run it direct from the head unit, JBL if you run an amp

 

I went with a kenwood deck and replaced the rears with fosgate 2 ways...so much better. Still has stock tweets and door speakers. Whole shebang was less then 180.00 from cruchfield. Included all wiring and was plug and play. Just ordered a deck and speakers for the youngest Altima. Cost 105.00 plug and play

 

I run Kenwood 6x8 all around, kenwood tweeters and a kenwood deck. Great output and sound in my opinion

 

Just a tip...go slow and easy removing the back panels, the clips break easy..

 

those adapters that they sell, don't work. I just stick to 6x8s or 5x7s

I spent less than $150, and the whole set up worked like a charm!

 

aren't the speaker size 6.5? that's what I was going to run in the back and front

 

01-04 double cabs have 6x8's in the front and the back. Tweeters in the front.

 

And apparently so does extra cabs!

 

I know the 98 single cabs have 6.5 speakers. Last I recall that is...

I don't know if your response to my comment was meant as insult or not but all I can say is that I was responding his question on 6.5 speakers in the tacomas.

 

I've got the JBL GTO 609C component system in my truck, powered by a Rockford Fosgate R150X2 Prime 2-channel amplifier. I've also got an 8" Kicker sub! My head unit is a Pioneer double-DIN.

 

so I should get 4 6x8s lol, lets just say I got stuck with 4 6x9s and couldn't get them to fit so I was stuck with them for a whole month, would've had my system over with, lost $20, finally sold yesterday
