Inexpensive hard tonneau cover for 3rd gen

I was hoping someone would pop in and say "hey these things are great" but not to be. so, i am not going to gamble over $300 on CCC...$30 maybe but not $300...i'll
keep watching...probably for a used known good brand or OEM.
I too was about to go with soft gator tri-fold but saw for little more money i might go hard. my use won't be very demanding.
not in a rush. if something comes my way before i need one i'll go hard.
if i need one i'll probably go soft gator.

I haven't found any yet. You could probably waterproof it better but I don't have any problems. That goes for all the cover brands. Goes on and comes off easily. Feels secure but if someone really wants in, they'll get in. Saved me a couple hundred over the other brands.

 

Literally just ordered this exact cover! Curious, does it have the rubber dust seal on the front edge near the cab?

This is perfect!! I'm not concerned that it's completely waterproof. And let's face it, a thief will get into anything given enough time or opportunity. Thanks for the info and the pic. Helped greatly.

 

Just realized that Rough Country doesn't make the hard tonneau for the long bed

 

Honestly the rough country tonneau cover looks identical to the ebay one I have, or the one OP is asking about, but they slapped a sticker on it. My cover very well could be a clone of the RC, or the RC is another generic with a sticker on it. I have a used 04 Tacoma which I didn't want to pay too much for a cover and OP has a 2018. I would justify paying twice since that's a brand new vehicle and RC does have a limited lifetime warranty on that product.

 

@DumbYetSmart Can you post a pic of yours? I'm leaning toward the Ebay one. I too have a gut feeling the Rough Country cover is the same generic cover with a Rough Country stamp.

 

I got the Extang Trifold 2.0 for my Tac. Easy install, NOT waterproof, but for me it works great. I think I paid $800. That reminds me ... I need to update my profile pic

My Tonneau cover came with a seal (10-12’) that was instructed to seal the tailgate portion of the bed. I used it to make a better seal with the bulkhead since you can’t fully cover it without leaving a gap on the tail gate, so you split the difference (1/2”-1”) and I got it to rest on both side pretty well. The strip for the bulkhead and tailgate are fins/ribs where the sides are two tubular seals.

The clips/latches ride in channels and there’s a notch for them to be removed. I put foam between the clip by the bulkhead and bedrail but I think cardboard would be better.


It would be great if the owners of the Entang or the Rough Coughtry can give their feedback and spot any difference in their cover compare to this.
