"Freeze Your Tail Off" is a local Utah offroad event that happens once a year for the winter solstice. The solstice happens to coincide with the lining up of the Lucin Sun Tunnels (For both the winter and summer solstice, depending which tunnels you're looking through). Last year was 6* F. Winter camping is for the dedicated, that's for damn sure.

I guess I should mention my family roots of the UP. Eh.

But, really, the point is the Drifter excels in the winter. I camp mostly in the winter and am no stranger to cold. The difference between before Drifter and now is that I don’t have to use a -15 mummybag. So far, it’s flannel sheets and a pedalten blanket w/ a buddy heater. I’m trying to research the propex setup.

I was hoping Iggy would beat me to it, but I'm about a day away from pressure testing the plumbing on this. Unlike Iggy I don't have a dual swing out with my gas mounted driver-side, so I went with my original plan to install in the back of a drawer routing plumbing through the frame to a quick disconnect on the swing out (passenger side). Iggy's idea of using the cubbies is a seemingly ideal location otherwise, so maybe plan your interior around that if you can. Important to consider that carbon monoxide could pool up in the fenders and seep in, (exhibit A of my cubby pulled out) so I decided to run the flu through the frame to let out under the passenger door.

we leave on a 16 day snowboard trip on christmas, so fingers crossed i get it dialed in tomorrow.

It was 14° In the morning the last time I camped. It was glorious dropping a deuce in the Drifter with the Buddy Heater at my feet

Not yet. Granted its only ~6 months old. The only thing that I have to remember is to “flush” it (with the lid closed!) when I change in elevation

All this talk of cold reminded me about this.

If anyone is looking for a Propex HS2000 the best price I have seen is Suremarine in Seattle, WA that carries them for $600.
They don’t come with all of the plumbing and fitting that the GoWesty ones come with - just the heater and electrical cables and thermostat, but you’re also saving almost $200.

Found them as well, great service!

They also have a great selection of plumbing fittings and sell the 22mm exhaust piping by the foot if you need it.

Use some RV antifreeze with the water for flushing. No worries on freezing then.

I wonder if that will ever happen - If the prices were down to $6,500 right now I would have purchased one.

The tariff stuff - I am unsure how long (years) it would take to rebound back from.
As for the production improvements/optimizations, labor costs, etc - that's probably a business secret if/when they would happen and may not trickle down to those of us waiting for prices to drop (or our bank accounts to grow).

I think the price is fair! Although still expensive but it's all relative to competitors etc. Slightly less then the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper. Alot more then a GFC but you get a much different product so apples to oranges. I think the biggest issue is the 6 month wait & 50 % deposit. I look forward to ordering one once the delivery time drops to 90 days. It appears to be very well made. Hopefully Vagabond reads these lol.

Jesus, i leave cell receptio for a few days, zip out to Beatty Nevada for some fuel/grub and see a bunch of posts about it being cold. As for the dig about celsius to farhenheit, get with the times, 99% of the workd is metric save for the US and some other shitty countries!! Kidding on the US being shitty.

Yeah the buddy heater works, I have more then adequate camping gear to cover the bitter cold ;) down here in cali/nev, Used it ine night to try it out it hasn’t worked sense. Thats why I hate buddy heaters, lots if problems with em and trying to ignite them.

Moving on the propex looks like a good solution, I like the idea for the mounting plate. Lots of drifters were going out, some of you peeps are in for a campy xmas!!

Now for all you peeps stuck with xmas commitments i give you a few photos from DV.

Lippincott: still easy as ever, could do it in a subaru.

Working in training the dog to use rex spec’s. Swore i’d never be that guy, but after witnessing how she tears through the bushes when here and I are snow shoeing, its inly a matter of time until i get an expensive vet bill for an eye injury. Come spring with mtb season, its
Only going to be worse. She will wear em provided there is treats, no to atart feeding her in them and small walks. Its gonna be awhile.

Oh and that is her new k9 tactical harness elite version for when she is taking down all those killer bees! Nah, I got tired of the shit ruff wear is putting out and everything I have from them failing so she got treated to a new harness. This one should last more then a cpl months

Can someone here post pictures of the different window/windoor options?

    Solid windoors?
    Windoors?
    The $800 windoors?
