White smoke

I just bought a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 used with 34,886 miles last week. When I got it was fine but now every single time I turn on the truck white smoke comes out of the Exhaust.

 

Well, everyone has been singing about a White Christmas, so just drive around and spread that smoky Christmas spirit.

If the in-service date is still under 3 years old, get it to the dealer before 36K...

Take it to dealer ASAP. I suspect a head gasket leak.

 

White smoke or white vapor with it being colder out? If it's really white smoke then that points to a head gasket issue. Usually this time of year it's just condensation.

I'd guess it to be condensation at first start up and until the truck heats up. If it's doing it after that, then take it to the dealership as it is still under the 3yr/36K warranty. Welcome to the site.

 

Does it stop after a few minutes?

 

Lots of variables. Is it cold outside? Does it go away? Does it increase in thickness or does it go away with certain driving habits? I would bet it’s something else aside from the head gasket but as others recommend, go to the dealer. You have until 50,000 miles to take care of it

Mine does this too. Only on colder days. Didnt see anything during the summer. I just assume its condensation/cold weather related

 

Get it to the dealer. Keep an eye on your oil and water levels to see if they drop slowly.

It's normal. You're noticing it because the outside temperature is low. Our exhaust systems are very long....so there's a lot of space for water to condense. Nothing to worry about.

2nd gens do it so much in cold temps that ice can form around the lower quarter panel where the exhaust exits

 

Coolant smoke will have a sweet smell to it, but I'm guessing it's just condensation due to the colder weather.
