I need a second vehicle, preferably another small un-lifted truck. My 87 year old mom has trouble using a step ladder to get in my Taco. My question is I am not finding much in the older Taco for around $4k or less. But there is a ton of little Rangers. Anybody had good bad or ugly with the Rangers? Not my type ride but will do for Dr. runs and grocery getter I guess. Or should I just find a Toyota car type? Thanks for your thoughts.

A 4cyl Ranger is a good truck, especially with a Manual tranny. The 2.3 Duratrac engine is proven. My first one had 277,000 when i sold it. It was my first ride so it was run hard even though I paid for it. It actually saw airtime a few times. That twin Ibeam front suspension would soak up a lot. Then in 2011 I bought one of the last ones made. I paid $14,500 out the door for a new base model. Totaled it a year later. That’s when I bought my first non ford vehicle, my lil taco.
I wouldn’t buy a V6 Ranger though, especially not an automatic.

 

Not today, but yesterday I traded my Morimoto fog lights for Orange Morimoto fog lights. The hue perfectly matches the Rigid pods. Now I want to replace the Rigids with something long reaching.

 

What kind of seat covers are those?
I like them.

What he said. I've had 4 and 6 cyl rangers and they take a beating. Best choice by far is 4 cyl 5 spd. The one I traded for the taco had almost 330 on the clock and ran great. I'd probably still be driving it if I didn't need the seat space. Almost impossible to get a rear face carseat and a toddler booster while still being able to drive.

 

The 4 cyl 5 speeds are great trucks, I had one with 250000 on it when the odometer broke and I drove it for another 5 years, finally had to donate it cause I couldn't get it to pass smog, still ran great, just wore out

 

console is ez to do...paint, vinyl, or other ...its a great project , and best makes it UR truck,, not like everyone else's ... mines still in progress

 

Did you paint your scoop or is it vinyl?

 

I am making it mine, like always....have lots of oem mods it didn't come with......in mine I do not paint interior parts that exist in color I want. Why? Been there done that and I'd rather have a black console that is still black whenever it gets scratched or rubbed on vs ending up with a 2 tone one. I don't care to revisit painting interior parts that that will just happen again on. I could just paint my carpet black too but that wouldn't be cool or last either..............that's just me tho.......

Works well, I've done it a few times to several cars I've owned. You do have to re-apply every so often but way cheaper than buying new housings.

 

Yea I get sand blasted/full sun alot out here in the desert lights get messed up quick
