Fuse block advice?

Hi guys, I'm not very mechanically or electronically inclined but wanted to try and do this one. I've got a Blue Sea fuse block and bracket I was going to mount up, but the bracket doesn't fit due to some coolant hoses being in the way. I figure if I cut the bracket down, I can flip it upside down and still mount the fuse block sort of like was done in this post.

My hoses are in a little bit different area though. They are closer to the engine instead of being in the back corner of the engine bay.



So, I'm thinking to cut the bracket so the fuse block is parallel to the fender. Instead of perpendicular like the post/picture above.



Would this still be workable? I could still put the breaker on top of the existing fuse box lid.

The next question would be what kind of tool would I need to cut that kind of steel bracket? Could I get through it with a dremmel or do I need something bigger? Thanks in advance. Trying to get this in so I can hopefully wire up some christmas goodies.

 

Seems like your plan will work. What truck do you have? Did you buy a 3rd gen plate for a 2nd gen truck? Seems like your application is different than what the plate was intended for. Maybe the vendor has one more specific to your truck.

As far as what to cut the steel with, use a cutting wheel on a grinder. You might get through it with a Dremel after a week or so and a few hundred wheels but the speedy cut is the way to go.

 

Its a 2013 and the plate is for a 2nd gen. The complication comes from the placement of the coolant hoses for the intercooler. I'll pickup a grinder after the holidays and see about cutting it down. Thanks for the advice.

 

Yup, use a grinder. This one at Harbor Freight is $19 and they have a 20% off coupon on their home page: Looks like it is going to be a clean install. I just bought all of my electrical stuff this week as well

 

I'm concerned with that pink stuff(coolant?) coming out of those connections..
