I am considering adding an A.R.E. MX cap to my truck. I would have to remove the cap every 6-8 weeks for hauling large items. Not considering the actual physical act of removal or storage of the cap, would this frequency of removal and installation be a problem in terms of hurting the integrity of the cap, problems with re-sealing onto the bed rails, etc. Thanks beforehand for your help and advice.

There shouldn't be any issues. The most important thing would be having a system to remove, store and install the cap in a way that doesn't damage it in the process. Also, you should consider upgrading the truck-to-cap wiring connections to high quality quick release plugs instead of the crimps used by installers. There are 3-4 wires connecting the truck to cap. For the bedrail-to-cap interface I believe most installers use a rubber gasket bulb style seal which is reusable. If they use the older foam style seal, it may get compressed and need to replaced periodically.

The rubber seals works for most areas. The front part near the cab they also put down some silicone or something like it across the front. That part I would need to redo. I debated on removing it but havent since I put it on.
