Long shot but I almost wanna point my finger at your alignment. It don’t take much to tweak shit, a large pothole can throw you off more than you’d think. It would be a coincidence but I definitely was averaging between 9-12mpg after a hard day of jumping my alignment was a ways off then again after I hit the curb in front of my apt a lil hard when I parked

 

And this is why I’m going look at tundras Saturday.

 

Mat will fix it; besides, 1.04 has made me very happy with my Taco. But I understand each taco is unique.

Personally, looking at a Tundra as a replacement for a poorly tuned Taco appears a bit overkill. Completely different class of trucks. But I’m sure that’s just me, I’m not someone to judge. Tundras are a very nice truck!

 

You don't have to wipe and reload. Just download the CAB file for the new PC hardware and install it. Everything will work just fine.

 

You've been saying you're going to get a Tundra for numerous posts now. What's stopping you? More importantly, why do you keep hanging around here and posting about going to a Tundra instead of just going and doing it?

 

Thanks folks, so only if you (1) have a dongle and (2) have 04B04 or 04A61 ECU Calibration IDs, do you get the 1.05 for automatic transmissions. The rest of us are still waiting, thanks!

 

I'm starting to think something is wrong with the electronics or something. I'm waiting for my tank to empty so I can start with a fresh tank and manually do the MPG.
Yesterday I restarted the MPG and got 23mpg on the way to work. I started my truck after work and it was down to 16. Drove home, stayed near 16. Started the truck this morning to warm it up and it was still near 16. Went out to get in the truck 20 minutes later to drive to work and it was down to 13. Drove to work and it worked it's way back up to 16. Sat at work and watched it, and it dropped by .1 almost every minute, just sitting there. Which is what was happenening when it was warming up this morning I think.
It's all over the place, and I honestly have no idea what's wrong with it. I may call the dealership today, but I'm fairly certain that it's outside warranty as I've owned the truck just more than 3 years.
If I could figure this out, I honestly love the truck.

Edit: Oh yeah. I also noticed if I go in to the app named "ECO", the update button has been grayed out, not letting me update or start over with the MPG. I can still renew the MPG through the dash settings, but not the ECO in Apps.

 

Do you park on an incline? My truck does this because my driveway is an incline and it falsely makes the gas gauge go down.

 

Nope. Everything I'm on is flat. My Garage is completely flat. Work is Flat where I was watching it drop.

 

It will drop in park at idle. Its using gas and not moving. You technically get 0.0 MPG since you are not moving at all. I can't speak to the rest, but I know mine gets worse MPG until the engine is up to temp, and I'm halfway to work by then. If its 30F or below, I might 16-17 MPG on the way to work. If its warmer out around 50F I can get 18-20. Less warm up time.

 

You would know this so much better than me, but does the truck use the fuel gauge to calculate mpg? I could see “miles until empty” but it would be so inaccurate for mpg. Mines pretty much always spot on and makes subtle changes while I’m driving. Can’t imagine the fuel gauge is that sensitive, let alone being able to compensate for sloshing fuel while driving.

 

Hoping to start seeing some consistent, thorough positive feedback on this tune from you guys.
After looking at a $6k loss in a trade for a fullsize Chevy yesterday... this $700 tune is starting to look like my only option.

 

This is purely seat of pants, but my wife’s Highlander has some of the same behaviors as my truck. They’re less annoying I think because of several factors. 1. It’s a lighter weight vehicle, so there’s less momentum to overcome when it up shifts weirdly. 2. It’s an 8spd, so the rpm changes are smaller, making shifts less noticeable. 3. The cabin is better insulated, so the engine is almost inaudible. 4. Better throttle map.

 

I'm gonna flash back to the "stock" tune today for a couple reasons. To see if it makes a difference in the MPG, to see if it fixes the ECO app, and for when I go in for my appointment in a few days to have it looked at.

 

Why not sell the truck privately then buy what you want. You’re always going to lose a ton on a trade in but you should be able to find someone to buy your almost new truck for an almost new price. Could also look for a lightly used full-size and you should come out ok.

 

Your MPG's are going to drop if you're just idling in park its using gas and not moving. Your issue sounds like it's not one, to me.

 

It's all MPG related though. And nothing explains my MPG going from 12 to 23 to 14 within a couple days. I have no idea what's causing it. But I've had the truck more than 3yrs and it's never done this before. Because I have an apt with the dealership, I'm going to flash back to stock. And because I'm doing that, it would only make sense to see if it all goes away as soon as I do that. I'm not saying it's the tune. I love the tune. I'm just saying it only makes sense to check. The "update" button in "ECO" is an easy way to tell. And the MPG not jumping all over the place. Who knows man.

 

Ok folks new version of 1.05 will be ready by saturday, should clear up and pending quirks / 4th gear. Then we will be good to release further to more ECUs.
