Some people might get a laugh out of this.
Ok so I’ve got some lowered suspension questions. I picked up my little white 1st gen a few months ago and I’ve been trying to go thought the truck fixing things and I finally had a semi matching truck come through the shop to compare to. The black one is completely stock and the white one has DJM control arms, 4inch blocks and a ball joint flip, but the truck never seemed low enough. All the work was done by a prior owner, I’ve just been trying to fix everything wrong. But now finally comparing it to another, truck it’s barely a 2 inch drop over the stock. But looking underneath it appears as of the springs are “beefier” front and rear on the white one. So now I’m convinced that I’m dealing with 2 different prior owners trying to do 2 different things, I think one person tried lifting the truck and another wanted to slam it, and now I’m left the cluster fuck. But my question is, how can I tell if the “lift” springs are actually lift or a pre runner set, or if there are any identifying marks I should look for. I still want to go lower with the truck but I need help knowing what I’m dealing with here.
Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated. Pictures are for reference. And the larger 18inch wheels are actually a shorter center bore to ground measurements then the 15’s on the black truck.

My 'guess' that if the springs are stiffer, it was done for ride/handling purposes rather than a 'lift', if done post-block install.

If they were done pre-block install, it could have been the same reason.

If the fronts aren't longer, they didn't lift anything. If the rear is beefier, but the same geometry, it should not lift either (other than remedying OE sagging)

That's only because of the low profile tires.

There is an X Runner forum somewhere that might have some more info for you on how to accomplish your goals. The tough part of suspension choices is how to do it (up or down) w/o ruining the ride or mucking up driveline angles and such.

On an '85 S10 I went with 2" drop spindles and a 3" drop mono leaf rear spring. Front shocks stayed stock, but had to get shorties for the rear, then add air bags to use if I hauled people or gear.

I only mentioned the wheel size in the event that if someone wanted to say “well one truck has a larger wheel”. That was all. But one of my coworkers was running around measuring everything between both trucks and that was one of things we checked.
