I'd really love one of these for my 97. I'm definitely in for your rear tube bumper and some sliders. Any progress on the 97 style front bumper setup?

Very Elite style looking and I really like it! How much does the bumper weigh?

Any deals or coupon codes on these if I purchase both right now?

Front: FB-1174-1190 & Rear: 1485 together, commercial shipping address with forklift, could probably ship together. I see you guys use Fedex, UPS is right behind my shop too and has better service in this area. This is for my shop truck. Thanks

The bumper for my '00 Tacoma came in today and I'm impressed with the craftsmanship. Everything is very straight and square. The welds are very nice and all of the exterior joints are buffed exceptionally well.

Got it done. I purchased the hoops separately and fitted them myself; it was a lot of work and gives me appreciation for what Adam and others do. I also machined the hexed into a circles. Primed, two coats Rustoleum truck bed, lightly sand to knock off grit, then two coats of semi-gloss.20200523_134628.jpg

Hey @traxman25 will the 01-04 bumper work on my 98 if I was already planning on modifying the frame extensions?

It is not just the frame extensions that change. Our bumpers are pretty different between the two years.

Now I plan on changing my 2000 front end to a 01-04 front end, what bumper do you recommend I purchase?

I do not have any direct experience with this mod so this is a pure guess... I'd go with the 01-04 and cut down the front of the 2000 frame to fit the bumper. Otherwise you'll need to cut back the upper edge of the older bumper.

Well I basically haven't done anything on TW since I joined awhile back. Been doing several upgrades to my 2000 but just been too busy to be active on here. Anyway, I'm about to order a front bumper soon. How do you like this one and how is the finish holding up on it? Did the gloss hold up to the sun? Looks great and I'd consider the exact same scenario. Thanks in advance

I ended up selling the bumper and sliders due to the weight they added to the truck. My truck is back to stock but I kept the tad bit of lift. I can say that the paint is likely holding up pretty well because I've used the same treatment on the OEM bumper and it's holding up pretty well. If your planning to do serious off roading when the bumper might contact rocks, paint it because it's easily touched up. If your truck will be a mall crawler, powder coat will likely hold up better.

Oh gotcha. Yeah I'm gonna be installing 5100s and ome 881s and do not plan on adding a winch. I dodge a lot of deer driving to work so I need it for that. Not gonna be doing crazy offroading. 881s should handle that just fine I think. Was planning on painting, not powder coat for the ease of touching up when needed. Just thought the way you went sounded interesting. Thanks for the info man

IMO, this bumper and paint will work great for your intended use. There is a lot to like about this bumper. Knowing you won't be doing a winch will make the install a little easier. I went the extra mile believing I would install a winch. Check out the link in my sig for more details about how I painted the bumper. If the info in my sig does have it, this link should: https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/23320910/

I have 5100's set on 2nd notch and added a two Dakota rear leaf springs to get my lift.

Best of luck on your project. I'm curious to see how it turns out.

BTW, thank you for serving. :) I was USN '93-'97 and spent two years on the USS T Roosevelt. :oldglory:

Cool man I'll check that out, thanks. I'll will get started on posting about my build soon. My pickup came with airbags. Not what I would have done probably but it works for now I suppose.
And thank you for your service as well. I was on the USS Kearsarge from 2004-2008, BM.
