New member but don't know if this is my first Tacoma as I had a 1988 extended cab 4 cylinder 4x4 pickup back in the late 80s in northern Ontario, Canada. Not sure if it was called Tacoma back then. Probably about as many horsepower as my snowmobile today. But that thing was a goer and got me in and out of places I really can't believe today. Kinda sold me on Toyota. Living, working and traveling for years outside of Canada before returning I saw the Hilux was the go to workhorse from deserts to jungles to snowfields. Not available in Canada, unfortunately. Owned Rav and Tundra since returning to Canada and they were good but not like Tacoma. Bought a 2016 Tacoma sport new a couple years ago- extended cab with long box. I don't like full cab with long box as proportions and wheelbase just look wrong- my opinion. Put a Leer cap on it to have dogs in and camp in. Other than that I'm not the type to modify. Usually make sure engine stays tip top and fix things when broken. Love it.

Thanks. Ended up here doing a little research on cargo bed outlet in the Tacoma and why it is only 400w.

You mean you don't need overlander type upgrades to do that stuff? Or lighting that Hubble pics up? Amazing. </sarcasm>

I would say that a proper set of tires for your driving conditions will make a huge difference.

Keep in mind that you new rig is larger (and more plush) than the '88, so it won't fit everywhere that one did. ;)

    Welcome and enjoy.
