3rd Gen Front seat comfort poll

This topic has been discussed a lot, so I wanted to quantify it. I find as time goes on, the front seat comfort (which is a combination of seat design and seating position) is my biggest complaint about this truck. I bought the vehicle for long drives and road trips, so seat comfort has become a topic of concern for me.

I am trying to figure out if it’s just my goofy posture and aging back that is troubling me most, or if these seats truly suck and need attention. My concern being, if I’m torturing myself maybe I’m also torturing my passenger.

I am considering letting an auto upholsterer have a go at improving them, but am hesitant.

Any input on easy fixes is also appreciated.

 

My 07 cloth seats were more comfortable. The new leather ones are really stiff and the sides dig into my thighs. Hoping that it will ease up in time. Also, no drivers side pouch is dumb.

I find them quite comfortable, it's more the positioning (being tall and having to hunch a bit when trying to spot/see certain things like traffic lights etc) that is the issue for me. But fot it's price range and compared to previous cars I've had (Ford Escape, Ford Focus ST, F150 and Subaru Forester ) within the last 10 years these seats are the most comfortable to me, the F150 overall was more comfortable due to more space but just seats I prefer Tacoma.

 

Never thought so much about any vehicle before joining TW.

The Tacoma seats are "adequate", and like the rest of the truck in it's entirety, the seats get the job done for me.

For the record, I am 6'4" and around 225 lbs....

 

The seats are comfortable to me, but my fiance says they are not to her, so go figure... She says she would not want to do a road trip in them. I may have to figure something out (sheep skins?). I'll be interested to see what others post.

Everyone's ass is different. These seats fit mine. My son's Subaru seat does not fit my body.

 

The seats suck, IMO. They need to be a bit higher, and more bucketed.

 

I'm tall, but a light weight. I've never had issues with sporty seats. My tacoma seats were a bit stiff when new, but they are adequate. This is coming from an owner of a shitty back!

 

Have you considered spacers under them?

 

Yeah, but that won't fix the biggest issue, which is the lack of bucketing.

 

I find them shitty to adequate. I’m 5’ 7” and 170 respectively. Around town, they are adequate. On long hauls, they make me want to scootch back often which I find bothersome. I feel like I’m lounging in a beach chair rather than sitting in a car seat.

 

I wish I knew more about the subject. For me it seems my lower back slides into the hinge area between the seat top and set bottoms. I wish that area was filled with more foam, and that the seats could be raised.

 

For me, because the lack of bucketing, my butt keeps sliding forward, and I have to constantly scoot myself back into the seat. It drives me nuts. lol

 

I've had close to 30 vehicles, the Tacoma seats are by far the worst for me. (Most reviews online also agree, seat comfort is the biggest Tacoma flaw). I got used to it over the last year as most of my driving is in town, under 1 hour. I took a 3 hour road trip this month and it was painful. No way I would deal with that if we didn't have another more comfortable vehicle we usually take on longer trips.

 

If the steering wheel telescoped more they would be better for me. 6'4" and apparently short arms or overly long legs because I have to sit more upright than I like and still too close to the pedals.

 

5'10" average length legs & torso, no sunroof. I rent a different car virtually every week for work travel. For me these seats are a bit low (poor visibility over hood) and a bit firm (uncomfortable on long drives). Added covers with foam between cover & base and that has resolved both issues. That changed me from an "adequate" to "comfortable". IMO these seats are fine except for a lack of adjustability. There is no seat out there that is comfortable for everyone, but more adjustments would make these Taco seats more appealing to many.

 

My main bitch is that I cannot lower the seat base. I have a long torso and sit very high. My last vehicles have seat height adjustment that I could lower the base.
I would like to have more lateral support in the back of the seat.

 

More comfortable than my first three trucks, they were bench seats with no back adjustments. Drove across country a few times with those.

As for the current truck, I need to remove my wallet for trips longer than an hour otherwise my right hip starts to hurt. Other than that they're pretty comfortable to me.

Seats are the TRD OR with Clazzios installed.

 

My biggest gripe is the gap from the seat to the bottom of the steering wheel. The steering wheel does not go up high enough. I’m 6ft and 190lbs so I’m not a huge person by any means, pretty average really. My legs rub the bottom of the steering wheel almost every time I get in this thing.
