If that's the broken ez out, there's no way he's going to be able to drill & tap that.

Can't quite tell but it looks like it's flush with the surface or higher? That's why I asked for an angled pic. If yes, get a dremel with a small cut off disc, grind a slot in it. Try to twist it with a flat head screwdriver (counter clockwise). When that doesn't work, get a quality chisel & try to break as much of the ez out as you can. Once you break it to give it a rougher surface, then try the alum again to disolve it.

Long shot, but perhaps you strike the end of the ez out with a small punch, maybe loosen it up??

Can you just replace the cover?

I’m no mechanic but it looks like it was removed at one point?

I wouldn’t think they could be too expensive out of a yard

BTW be careful when trying to break/crack the ez out that you don't hammer too hard & crack the valve cover. Cast aluminium is not very strong. I know it's a lot of work but it's much safe to take the valve cover off to try & fix that.

Another issue is where the ez out broke, the surface looks very flat. If you can chip/crack the ez out to give it a rougher surface the alum should work better at disolving it. Also the more of the ez out you can break out of there the better as there's less for the alum to dissolve (quicker).

I dunno, I’ve been getting up at midnight since Saturday, getting home and sleeping a few hours and getting up again.

Sometimes I get lucky and get some sleep in my truck. School doesn’t start till the 7th so probably next week.

At the least, grind the surface of the ez out to give it more surface area. That will help the alum react better rather than on a smooth surface.
