I only pay like $16 for a trade in and like $12 for a fill from the hardware store.

@ovrlndkull Don't need the tank if it's regular grill size. I have like 6 of those ;) Was thinking if it was a smaller one I'd use it for the camp grill instead of those "disposable" 1lb things I hate.

Yea those small tanks blow. I haven’t spent much time cooking for more than myself of me and one other person, but I find the IsoButane much more efficient. I use a MSR PocketRocket and love that thing. Anything too big to cook on it, I’m cooking on the fire anyway

Much appreciated sir. Stress...I have two Belgian Malinois and 70% of my sanity remains intact, a kid should be a breeze haha.

That’s the plan my good man. That’s something I wish my father had done for me but he never was a big sportsman. I feel like that was mainly because of a really bad and shady/creepy experience before I was born.

    Yaaaaaassss!

Damn I’m jealous! I’d love to have a Malinois! If you have them under control, a kid will be a walk in the park!

Oh ask for gift cards at the shower so that you can buy diapers that's the $$$$$ pit right there. Everything else like Dave said is they aren't too expensive everything can be frugally bought like clothes and such.

I was just bsing. We’ve trained them well and still do. We were fortunate enough to connect and train with Jeff, the former RPD kennel master (I guess that would be an accurate title or description). He’s been an indispensable asset for us. Anyways, handlers need just as much training if not more than the breed. It’s a collective effort and I think people who are enamored with the breed don’t take that into consideration. They’re amazing dogs who require amazing handlers. What you put into a Mal is what you get out of them. Intellectual/physical stimulation, bonding, developing drive, molding of natural skills, socializing, etc. are absolutely critical for their growth.

NOTED!!! We’ve been seriously considering going with cloth diapers instead of forking out a metric shit ton of cash for disposable diapers (pun totally intended).

Oh bud I know. I’ve got several friends who are all Shepherd and similar breed handlers, breeders, trainers. I have a pretty good understanding that those breeds require constant dedication and discipline on the part of the owners lol. I’m way too lazy, which is why I own a Goldendoodle and two pugs

Also, skip is right. For both of our kids’ showers Jessi’s friends got together and a couple of them would buy infant diapers, couple size 1, size 2... so on and so forth. I literally didn’t buy a diaper for either kid until they were 4-5 months old lol. Diapers are the best damn gift you can get as a new parent Lolol

Meant to say, too. Cloth diapers won’t really save you much money unless if you’re planning on doing the cleaning and sanitizing of them at home (vs paying for a cleaning service that exchanges them). So outside of that, you’re just saving the environment.

Jessi and I weighed the options but we weren’t willing to deal with the cleaning part lol and we lived out in the middle of nowhere so the services was even more expensive. We just went with the standard disposables cause we hate the earth :pout:

Yea. For us, diapers were better than cloth. We have a 2 yr and a 4 mth old. You will be doing laundry every day just FYI if you go cloth so IF you save any money (which is not too certain) you will most likely not break even given the water for laundry and the TIME!!! that it will take you and the spouse.

Our close friends did cloth with kid #1 and didn’t want to do them for #2.

We also have 2 huskies. Not exactly like the malenois’ but can still be a handful.

I fully agree with your handler statement. I had a GSD. He was my first dog but I had my aunt and uncle who use to raise, breed, show, and train GSD they helped me a lot with understanding dogs and training them and how to act etc.

Yeah I thought about the cloth diapers for all of 4 sec then I didn't want to deal with washing them :puke:. I've heard potty training is a lot easier and quicker with them. Plus you can go up to a tree hugger who uses disposable ones and give them shit as a bonus (pun intended there as well)

Same here man I just got sick thinking about it and after I did the calculations with having a service for them it came out more expensive for the cloth. However I do have and use cloth diapers as rags and they are the best thing I've used for putting stains on wood. Mom and dad used cloth with me and my siblings now those old diapers are rags and such. I grab a handful anytime I need some more rags. I swear mom must of bought out the entire supply when we were kids since she still has loads of them.

They're good looking dogs. I just have the box stock lab mutt of some sort mix. She's like dave's dog just a lazy bones but took a lot of work to get her to where she is now. 78lbs of cybaby needing attention and petted 24/7.

A little of this and a little of that.
    @ovrlndkull and @Dangerdave

Great looking dogs! Pugs are hilarious, a cousin of mine had two and who were dubbed destroyers of the universe. Haha, but I’ll tell yah, there ain’t a damn thing wrong with a “I’m lazy AF, but my owner knows I’m freaking awesome” dog.
As for Mal’s, I really took the time to make sure a Mal was right for me, now us. By taking time, I really mean taking time, I wait nearly 6 years until all of the stars and planets aligned before my first Mal. Unfortunately, Athena passed during a routine operation. It was a complete fluke, like 1:10,000 fluke where she didn’t come up from anesthesia. Both vets worked together for nearly 30 mins trying to bring her back, but sadly a higher power had different plans. The vets, shut down their practice and sent everyone home for the rest of the day. That situation had everyone all sorts of torn up that day.

I was probably 12-13 years old when I received my first dog which was a wolf hybrid, malamute and gray wolf. Natasha was her name and she was one majestic ass animal. Interestingly enough she imprinted only on me and that was a wrap. Devilishly smart, wickedly loyal and fiercely protective of me. She topped out around 120lbs. and looked every bit a gray. I used to joke that, she was full blown wolf since she looked nothing like a malamute.

Anyways, as for this diaper conundrum, you guys are right in that the math clearly shows that you aren’t saving any money. However, the wife was all for cloth and I gave up trying to argue otherwise. But, now that plenty of time has passed, I may start a new war campaign with her. Also, like you fellas, we’ve been fortunate enough to have/make friends with other people who have or are planning on hooked us up with their kids’ hand me downs. That’s a win in my book any day. Kids grow so damn fast that by the time you walk out of a store with new clothes, a week passes and they no longer fit.
