255/80/17 tire selection just leaves mud tires

Nope, not for the amount I daily drive.

Anyone try the Falken Wildpeak 275s? They're C rated but I still see them listed as 57lbs each, seems heavy for a C load.

Thanks to this thread, I decided to go 275s instead of 285s. I went with the C-rated Wildpeaks. I could’ve sworn I saw them listed with less weight, but I could be confused with all the different tires I was researching. Nonetheless, the tires have been riding great on pavement. After lifting the truck with 5100s and 887s, the ride is now suuuuper smooth. I haven’t driven enough to compare mpgs, but I haven’t noticed any significant loss in power.

Here’s some before and after and after after pics (last pic is with a lift but the sun setting kinda ruins the shot).

Truck looks great. I'm more concerned with power loss than mpgs, I'll look to see if others have similar experiences with them

Same here. Right now I have a stock suspension, so only concern would be any rubbing. Anyone have pictures of K02 275/70/17 on a stock suspension? If I go this route, would a leveling kit solve any issues until i put in a full suspensions?

sorgon82 had them on with stock suspension. Now he has lift. No rub, but he was running 1.25 wheel spacers, with stock sport wheels. He may still have pictures in profile Also some pic's of his truck two pages back.

What wheel offset are you running and do you have mudguards?

To be honest I'm not even sure. New to all things wheels and tires. Currently everything is stock regarding the wheels, tires and suspension. I have the stock mudguards right now.

Stock OR wheels are 16 inch and the tire size you asked about is for a 17 inch wheel.

Size and whether it will rub or not at stock height will be dependant on wheel offset.

Once you decide what wheel you're going to use we can make a better determination on if that combo will fit.

Okay thanks. So it looks the stock OR has a +25 offset if I was reading that correctly. I was looking into adding a 2” leveling kit with the 17” TRD pro wheels with BFG K02s in 275/70/17. Was hoping this combo would work without a true lift kit and just by using a spacer kit for now if that makes sense.

That wheel choice will likely provide minimal rubbing, especially when you add the 2” leveling kit.

If I remember correctly the 17” Pro wheels have +4mm offset. They’ll provide a more aggressive stance than your stock Offroad wheels, while still remaining inset enough to avoid tons cutting/trimming to fit a larger tire.

Thank you for all the good information. I am going to continue to research and hopefully come up with a combo soon.

Sorry to spam with pics, but here are some pics of my OR with stock suspension and 275/70/17 Cooper ST Maxx (32.2") on Procomp 5034 wheels (0 offset). Rubbed in the front on plastic when wheeling hard, now after cutting some of the inner fender and bender some plastic it only rubs if I were to slam on the brakes with the wheels at a 45 degree angle. Love the size, really wish the E load weren't so damn heavy and hard but hey on that note, they sure are bulletproof tires.

I think the mudflaps might be a problem until you add the leveling kit. After that you should be fine.

I run that same wheel but in a 265/70/17 with just under 2 inches of lift up front and I have plenty of clearance, that 1/4 inch more in radius you're adding shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for all the info on this, really appreciate it. I think I'll start looking around to find the combo I am going to run. Love the setup you have going!

Thanks, I've been very happy with it after 18 months installed and I didnt want to break the bank doing it.

OME 885 coils with Biltein 5100s front and back, Wheelers 3 leaf Progressive AAL for just under 2 inches front and back.

Truck rides like a dream and lift cost was less that $800 while maintaining factory rake.
