    A bunch of smalls
Looking for some honest input from anyone that may have gone from a Honda CR-V, or similar small suv to a Tacoma. I currently drive a cr-v and have been thinking about buying a Tacoma since this summer. I genuinely like the way my cr-v drives, its very efficient and hasn’t given me a single problem in 85,000 miles of driving. Still I want a truck to handle all of the little things that a cr-v can’t and because I think it would be a lot more fun to drive and own. Anyone here make a similar swap? Any regrets if you did?

I went from a 2011 cr-v to a 2010 Tacoma. When I got the tacoma, I gave the cr-v to my girlfriend. So, I still get to drive the cr-v from time to time. The tacoma is much more fun to drive and mod. The cr-v is great, efficient, handles well, and has pretty good storage for "clean" items, but it is gutless and underpowered. The AWD in the honda is great for slick rain and snow, but it is not an extreme off-roader. The tacoma is a little more rough around the edges, but it has a lot more power and torque, and is much more off-road capable. It also has a lot more aftermarket mods and upgrades available.

If you're not worried about fuel efficiency, want more power, and can turn a wrench, then definitely the Tacoma. If you want low maintenance, fuel efficiency, and a smooth underpowered ride, stick with cr-v.

I also did the exact same thing. Went from a 2016 cr-v to a 2010 tacoma. My wife took over the CR-V for the remainder of the lease. Definetly two different breads but both a good at what they are meant for. I have just always wanted a tacoma, so i went for it when i found a good deal. Definetly no regrets here.

Going from a suv to Tacoma will be more fun to drive. One vehicle does it all. The only downside is the price and cost of fuel. Depending on your year it may be 10 mpg less. I know these aren’t the biggest but they are the only downsides I can think of. Mpg after and price is a pain to negotiate at times with these. Look at the what did you pay Thread for a good idea and Delaers to avoid

I ended up taking the plunge today. I bought a cement off-road with manual transmission, premium and tech packages. Paid $4500 under msrp. They gave me kbb value for my cr-v in excellent condition too, so I’m pretty happy with the deal.

I’d like to buy a set of sidesteps similar to the predator tube steps. Any suggestions on a good website to buy from? Hopefully this isn’t the beginning of too many mods.

The Admiral has had 2 CR-V's...they are really nice suv's...I think you'll enjoy the extra height...My 2017 Tacoma has the V6 engine..if yours does, too, you'll enjoy the extra power.

I don't pay much attention to mileage, but when I do, wife's honda is in the 25+ mpg range while just today, on a 35 mile trip, I got 23mpg. City...can't help you there but overall, crv is about 23 and my tacoma gets about 18...

Hope this helps...you really can't go wrong with either option...jjst what makes you happy...

My wife has a 2016 CRV and I have a 2016 Tacoma. We decided we would “share” vehicles, and just grab whichever vehicle is at the end of the driveway (it’s only one car wide). The crv is a great little vehicle, but the Tacoma just feels better in so many ways. As long as mileage doesn’t matter a ton, you will love it. Long story short, I’m worried my wife is stealing my Tacoma..
