    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Found this at O'Reilly's today. Say 360 lumens per strip. We'll see how 720 lumens lights up my engine bay tomorrow.

Add it to the ever growing pile of stuff I want to get done to the truck...

Been sick for a week. We'll start with the lights as a goal and see how much more can get done... Small steps... (But I'm off work till Wednesday)

When yours get out of adjustment they get quieter because wear causes them to tighten up and ride the cam harder

    That pile looks familiar.

About one year ago today, I made my truck 4WD.

you have shim over bucket non hydraulic lifters, Usually wears out your nice little valve seats too as they tighten up, but that's fine how about you tell me how they work since you knew enough to ask the question in the first place. I seriously have no idea why I bother sometimes, I'll just go back to eating glue

I'm gonna just give two bits of advice you can google yourself to find the answer.

They're called Shim over Bucket Valve Adjuster (you'll get the most info looking this up, it's not like an old pushrod engine or even a newer hydraulic adjuster rocker arm engine, it is it's own thing)

And the one major piece of advice associated with them "tappy valves are happy valves)

Did you buy a new grill to do this? Or are you using the one off your truck?

I'm thinking about buying a grill because my truck is my daily and I'm not sure how long that process is going to take.

There's a solid thread somewhere on here with everything you'd need to know about the auto trans that came in the toyota truck. I was reading it the other day and some transmissions won't shift past second if the coolant temp isn't warm enough.

I anyways get shit for this but imo oem junkyard axles are the best. $50 a piece in Denver. My wallet doesn't want to cry when I break one.

I run 85-140 because it's what ECGS recommends and I like my warranty. I do experience temps around -30F. Truck is definitely sluggish to move but I feel like it's similar to my T100 when it's cold. I just pulled my front diff apart and there's no sign of improper lubrication even with a diff drop (OMG ARE YOU THERIOUS!?! :luvya: to all the diff drop haters). Some other things happening in it but nothing is heat scorched.

Anyone doing valve cover gasket, I'd recommend checking the valve lash while you're in there. On the 3rz they are known to get tight over time. I haven't heard of the 5vz doing this but if you're in there it's easy enough to check.

In my experience the tighter the shaft the quieter things are. If it's sloppy you'll hear it :spy::rimshot:

Bought a new one, they’re cheap on eBay. I figured if I donk this one up or decide I don’t like it I still have the original chrome one.

    I have mods
This is absolutely correct. They are the same style as a lot of motorcycle (Japanese and European) valves are done. Pain in the ass to adjust. The valves will get tighter as the shims under the bucket wear which will cause the valve train to get quieter. Hydraulic valves get noisier, shim under bucket do not.

This is actually very helpful. After having a burnt valved replaced on one head I’ve gotten more of a tick ever since. I’ve been worried that the valves were out of adjustment. Good info!

Ya, I've been a fan since the time I knew enough about football, to be able to root for a team. The 80's and 90's were great.

I've actually tried to become a fan of other teams but I just can't do it.

Now I just don't watch the NFL... I can stand the stupid shit the players do, the rule changes are stupid, the announcers are too political... And my favorite team is a dumpster fire. What's the point in watching?
