Thanks for the reference pics! I'm thinking i'll be doing this right before a spur of the moment camping trip lol. Ever have any issue with water freezing there when winter camping?

It def freezes in there! Never an issue winter camping really bekuz the water in there is more so wash water not drinking water and when I winter camp water use is minimal. I do drain it every so often when I think about it sitting in there and have found it a few times frozen in the can not draining..

I did mine last minute to a trip.. I feel like after hacking the hole in the can carrier I was thinking Ill come back to file the edges and paint it, but never did and prob won’t haha. It works so well and the cosmetics I can’t see..

Hey man do you have any photos on the hole you cut for the latch and how you mounted it? I'm having a hard time with mine. Not sure how to do it.

I don’t think I took any during the build. Here’s some close ups tho..

The way it all lined up the forward wall of the drawer itself I notched to allow for depth and compensated for the catch up and down movement, the face board has the hole for the latch.

I’ve been eyeballin those. They look real nice.

Unrelated, did @Montauk17 ever hit you up? He has a whole syn winch line that snapped while spooling (chafing on bumper) and 85% of it is still good. I told him to hit you up about giving you all the rope in exchange for a shackle or two.

Is that the upper hardline or lower? Upper as in the one on the frame. I have to replace my upper hard line because my install went to absolute shit as well. The flange nut is all the way unscrewed and it wont separate from the soft line. The flange is all jacked up inside from someone over-tightening it so I gotta replace it but not sure if its hard to get to the hardline. Havent really looked into it much more. I just bolted it all back together and left it alone.

Just reading this is giving me PTSD..

The hard line that runs the frame I had an issue breaking it free from the spot it transitions with a bracket to a soft line. So when I went into doing the brakes I PB blastered everything and really only had about an hour before I wrenched on everything and got into some major dramas.. So frustrated I walked away. I came back two days later and decided to use a 6” pipe wrench because the line wrench was slipping at this point. To my surprise first go it popped.. wrench went flying, shut my eyes, thought something broke hah. I’d give more credit to the PB blaster sitting for four days over the little pipe wrench. So everything for a couple days and you should have better luck.

Have you weighed your truck? Did you look at the gear ratio rpm calculator? Not trying to come across the wrong way, just surprised overland jay is going for more of a rock crawling gear ratio.

if a line wrench starts stripping the fittings i typically resort to vice grips. get them as tight as you can and they work phenomenal in that situation. almost prefer them to line wrenches when dealing with crusty brake fittings

His tires with the auto trans will only actually be 7 rpm higher at 70 mph than a 100% stock truck with a 6 speed manual according to the pretty in-depth calculator on grimmjeeper.com. And you’ll have to wait for him to respond but if I remember correctly on his cross country trip he weighed in at 7300 or so
