I don't think the Colorado is a bad truck, it's no Tacoma though. 3RGs aren't bad, probably the best small truck on the market. If I didn't have to have a Tacoma, the Frointer would be on my list of new trucks to buy, because of it's old design.

I'm holding out for the 2022 Hilux... AKA the 4th Gen Tacoma.

Good plan. That's the great thing about these trucks. My 04 easily got me to the 16 since I wasn't interested in gen2. I'll admit I was test driving a 16 Colorado though when I read the Tacoma would finally get an update.

I suppose they make a good one every once in a while. I grew up in GM products. Design by committee kept me away when it was my turn to buy, but I got hosed by the engineered-by-designers at Dodge. Since we stayed away from bad USDM engineering. We finally learned the secret to just by Japanese.

We also took notice how the old big three handled serious recall issues on cheap parts in the last decade. Fuck 'em!

The ZR2 has the DSSV dampers which is the only part of a Chevy I would want.

I recently traded my 2016 Colorado with 19,400 miles for a 2019 TRD Sport and must say the Tacoma is a much better truck. In the time that I had the Colorado it was in for warranty work 6 times, and the issues were still not resolved. Very poor customer service from Chevy. The Colorado I believe was a little quieter and smoother though, but that means nothing when it constantly had issues.

Wow, low mileage for a 16. Hope you got good value for your trade.

My trade in value wasn't to bad. I got around 27,000, but my Colorado was loaded. I do not think that I would have gotten hat much if the trade in dealer realized that the warranty just went to the 36 month mark and was expiring, they were just looking at the mileage and assuming it was still under warranty.

You may be surprised at the US content of the Tacoma’s. Completely designed in Ann Arbor, Mi. Any modern vehicle is globally sourced. However the Tacoma’s have a pretty high US content. Denso and Aisin have factories in the US. I think the Honda Accord is still the most US content built vehicle.

Don’t worry nor think about the haters OP. 98% of them don’t owned a 3rd gen and they come here to talk junk without really knowing logistics. I wouldn’t gotten my truck if I was to listen to a lot of the trolls in this forum. That being said, I LOVE my 18 Sport Taco all the more!!!

Btw, I also test drove the Colorado zr2 and diesel and I wasn’t impressed at all. Specially the diesel, sluggish and unresponsive.

Colorado diesel with a 0-60 of 9.7 and 1/4 of 17.2 not even able to make 80 mph I would have to agree. Some articles have called passing marginally acceptable it sucks so bad.

I recall seeing the Texas made Tacoma's at number 18 on the most American list, not too bad.
