Well I think that just sealed the deal. I would rather enjoy the truck and do the mods that make sense instead of having possibly bills on bills.

No payment feels great. Mod the truck at your own pace, enjoy the extra cash in your pocket, and time with the kiddo.

Keep what you have. Open a Roth IRA and throw the new car payments in there instead

KEEP YOUR TRUCK. Seriously, third gens have so many issues it's not even worth making that leap. At least yours is payed off and you know what you got. Just because it's shiny does not make it a better vehicle. Better MPG? Not by much . Save yourself the headache and reap the rewards of having something solid and payed for and not jump into a a test truck that Toyota is not supporting.

I don’t wheel this truck at all really as in going to an offroad park or anything. Since I sold my dd/old wheeling pickup, this is my only vehicle. But I realized using the winch on my rzr that having a winch on my pickup would be great just in case I ever need one again.

Thanks it’s still doin good gonna upgrade to ome 886 and shocks soon, kinda worried about 05 headgasket issues.

Also only has 132,000 as of now so not many miles in a year.

Really depends whats in your budget. The 3rd gens are pretty hefty in price but you do get alot more improvements in terms of technology and asthetics. With mods im 60k+ into my truck. (Cad). You could probably get an older truck with same mods for half that

I had an 06 I drove to 201,000 without issue and now I'm on an 011 with 119,000 on the clock. Take care of the 4.0L and it will take care of you. Could always replace the head gasket as a preventative measure before a possible failure costs you more. To an experienced engine mechanic, the head gasket is just time consuming, but not all that difficult.

I would say keep the 2nd gen and buy a new one and mod the 2nd gen as money becomes available
