Don't think any of that should cause gear oil to come out the vent. The ARB issue is the seals they were using letting the air out into the diff, pressurized the diff and blowing it out the vent.
The oil is put in through a hole on the side of the diff until it runs out the hole so not really a way to over fill unless I am missing something?

It slashes and is thick so it has a hard time draining back down the hose into the diff, meanwhile expanding hot air pushes it farther up. It isn't uncommon for the front breather to puke a little given how small the diff case is

I guess, I have never had that issue until my locker started leaking air, fixed that problem and I have never seen it since.

Many thanks! :hattip:I'm pretty happy with it myself! Looking forward to trying it out. Looked long and hard and considered many options before settling on this one.

My unlocked diff does it regularly, it isn't a huge amount of leakage or anything but enough to smell a bit when you're using it hard

What I mentioned has nothing to do with actually using the locker. It'll happen driving down the road in 2wd. FWIW, my ARB has worked flawless for several years now.

The stock oil capacity it based on a stock setup, whereas you are correct and you fill it up until it comes out of the hole, but that doesn't seem to translate exactly after you've regeared and/or added a locker.

Also, if you look at the FSM for the front diff, I believe the spec is 10mm below the fill hole.

That's a good one. Bought new cvs went cheap (cardone new) but hopefully the boot mod will help them last plus gear oil for all the cases and shoes and drums for my tundra axle so I can hopefully get that on soon.

Not saying it has never happened, from what you are saying I guess it does but I have one locked and two not and I have never seen it.
You are correct it is not suppose to be filled until running out but even doing that I have not seen it come out the vent.
I just find it strange I have never seen this happen and when I talked to ARB they also told me oil should never come out of the vent, They replaced my locker twice because it did.

Ah. Nice. I went with feq's and did the boot mod. Year and half later and still no rips. Previous set ripped after 6 months. Have a set of SDHQ's and rebuilt OEM axles ready to go for the next time they rip. Good luck!

Thank you I'm itching to get them in the truck needs a trip. Did you use hose clamps to hold the boots after? Mine lasted less then a year but that's well under 10k miles. I also think I'm over stretching them I'm a dumb ass and havent strapped my long travel kit yet

Yes, I used hose clamps. They seemed to work just fine but go over the edge of boot ever so slightly.

After about a year of having my exhaust rub and melt the tread on my spare tire I finally got around to chopping the exhaust right after the axle.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Well I got this far today...

Positives = The Por15 finally dried. And at least the worst part on the CVs is over. Just have to reassemble when the (correct) outer boots arrive.
