Troops have always been known for their “road cooking” abilities. The oldest I have heard of, was hanging canned rations at the exhaust exit.

Isn't that what the bed outlet is for?

When in the field surveying our first rig was a '68 IH Travelall I6. We'd put a couple cans of these in the exhaust manifold gaps to warm up on cold days........

Yep. A cold tuna sandwich was a better choice.

Before I retired I was a truck driver. I used to cook on the engine all the time. By lunch time my foil wrapped burrito, hot dog or whatever was piping hot. A little advice I learned the hard way... If you're gonna heat a can of soup, chili, stew, etc. Punch a hole in the can. They WILL explode.

YES THEY WILL. Ask me why my jeep smelled like hormell for a few weeks........ I had a little metal bowl with a lid (military style camp gear found at a thrift store) it fit in the cooker so I would put it in there and clamp the lid on. It held enough to keep food in but still let building pressure escape.
