He’s having some nasty temp swings. Like 100 degree swings. Tried different P settings and such. Gets a little better but still off.

Butt has been pulled! Looks and smells great. She is now wrapped up and sitting in the cooler.

See below. I have it set to 225 and it’ll swing from 200-330. Tries every P setting and nothing.

Had it at 250 and it spiked to 420. It’s just wildly uncontroable

After watching some smoking videos on YouTube we got hangries...

Threw a porkloin on for about 2/2.5hrs and reverse seared for a couple minutes. I was in a hurry and it was cold out so I coulda gone lower and slower... Avg temp in the chamber was 280.

Just before the loin came off the firebox sear, I took 2 sheets of foil and spread a thin line of "Christopher ranch" minced garlic down the middle. Took the loin off the fire, set right on top of the garlic mince in the foil, wrapped tight for 12ish minutes to rest in the microwave (off).

Unwrapped the loin carefully, sliced it, then poured the minced garlic/juice goodness on top.
    Damn good and damn simple.

That's completely unacceptable. This is your second one to do the same thing, right? I'd return it and look at something else.

This one at least sinks back down. But yes, I agree. I’m to that’s point. I’m going to try one more thing tomorrow with it to see if it solves any problems. If not it’s very likely it goes back and I go another route

The first unit never went down, only up. This one has wild swings.

The pork came out great though!

    Good deal on the pork!
Just a thought. Did you get them already assembled? From the same place? Maybe assembled by the same idiot, I mean guy?

There’s not really any electrical stuff to connect. The thermometer is already attached. You basically just bolt on the legs and handles and the hopper and that’s it. Oh and plug in the thermometer to the hopper/PID. I thought maybe my girlfriend did something wrong but then I assembled the second one and saw you really can’t fuck it up.

Ok. My GMG came in a box with a LOT of assembly. Got it done tho.
Does your grill have a box that sits over the fire pot? Can it adjust from side to side to redirect the fire?

This, and I’m that my guy at my store. And yes, I’ve had couple idiots work for me. If I assemble it, it’s like I was putting it together for myself. Of course what do I know, I’m only 56yrs old and been building/rebuilding motorcycles for over 45yrs. Pretty certain I can bolt some legs in place.

A bit easier than putting together a GMG it seems. Just trying to help. That fire on the right end of his grill is not good, or normal.

Yeah it does. But you can’t really readjust anything.
Ya. I dunno what I’ll do. We will see what happens tomorrow with my finagaling. I’ve heard so many good things about Traeger and I’ve just gotten skunked twice in a row.

Mine has been great but there can always be issues. If I don’t get one of the Spitts & Pitts ones when I replace mine I’ll more that likely go with the new double walled one from Traeger I’ll do like I did the last time and get the big one.
