Kids in the Taco offroad

Looking for advice and or tips and tricks on what and how to keep the truck clean
(ie kick mats for the seats) and things to just make it easier for them on the trail. In my jeep I really didn't care since it was all bed lined inside if she made a mess I would just hose it out. And she was smaller then so less mobile mess anyway.

Our last trip ended up with the backs of the seats covered in mud cause her feet dont bend down yet so much yet (shes still short). I ended up using a bungy cord to hook her tablet up to the head rest so we cold break up the monotony of the highway trip there and home.

So what you guys got? What have you learned and found made kids in the taco offroad easier on the family as a whole.

 

I got seat covers, husky floor liners and seat back organizers. It still always looks like shit, but I know it's ok underneath.

I ordered this so her tablet would be out of kick range

 

I got these from Amazon. Cover and kick mats. Both are water proof.

The seat cover has a skirt that goes around the seat too, keeps the dirty heals from getting the seats nasty too.

I learned my lesson with my kids in my rav4, I let them eat and drink in there. It had mice everywhere in there because of the food they would drop. I made a rule, no food or drinks in the new truck. Water is fine as long as it has a lid.
The only place right now that needs protection is the center console area, they tend to kick that still. Going to use some Velcro and some automotive carpet to make a cover for the back of the console.

They do still kick the doors sometimes, and the plastic trim at the base of the door, but im not sure what I can do for those... maybe some thick vinyl wrap on them.

You dont have to do that. The picture helps alot. I was also looking at a couple convertible that would do dog duty too.

 

Well I will tell you this, it fits 100% perfect... Like it was made for this truck.

Was looking at this one because I could to the hammock style on one side and non on the other side.
I currently have a convertible seat on passenger side and rear facing infant with base in the middle.
I was thinking maybe the dog could join us in that 3rd seat if I had the hammock style.

 

Just noticed the one you posted has latch openings. The other one only has seat belts. Ill probably order the one you posted.

 

At a certain point, it’s easier just to wrap the kids in automotive carpet.

My son is four and I'm in the same boat as you. I use a plastic bin on the floor and take his shoes off and put them in that. Then he is just rubbing his socks on the seat. It's been working great so far on the trail.

 

Thats actually a pretty good idea. I might try to find a collapsible one like that flat folding dog bowls.
