    Correct fix good job sir.

Window weld, JB weld ,silicone, gorilla glue or whatever is a permanent solution for a temporary issue. Dont fuse it to the truck forever. What if you need to replace it? I'm a dealership bodyman and butyl IS THE fix (or a brand new part). But while your there look for cracks in the tailight. Sometimes people get a little over zealous cranking down third brake lights.

Not true. Butyl can be twisted as thin as you need and will seal on a cold day . Try 3m they make the good stuff.

This is NOT an epidemic, mine is not leaking going on three years. Often, fastners can be over torqued at assembly or after setup from different model(s) spec or gasket got twisted and went unnoticed.

Rule I live by, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Good rule!

Some sealants can have a harmful chemical reaction on applied surface overtime as they gas out and may cause other issues or damage to paint or rust inhibitors.

I'm still waiting for mine to leak and if ever it does, I'll deal with it then

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

No leak on mine either and I’ve driven through some downpours and car washes.

And there's one more thing I didn't mention, my truck stays out in the pouring rain and baking sun or cold 24/7. It has no room in the garage, but as of yet, no issues

My truck has been through many downpours and I've had it in a very high pressure touchless wash a couple of times and have not yet seen a single drop make it's way to my headliner or behind the seats in over 2 years.... but I've seen folks have the issue surface just after the 36k bumper to bumper expires and am considering some clear silicone to do the trick myself since I just hit 40k

That, sir, is a bad attitude and will not be tolerated on these here forums! Fix it, "mod" it, or leave the forums! LOL!
