Just enough to look kinda cool.
I have bought the material but after putting the "bracket" up to the frame I'm worried about not having enough material to properly support the weight of the truck. The "bracket" is a 3x3 L section U2EaXcW0QZ6pXwNQ7z%2jg.jpg here it is on the truck frame1LcIK9wuR56hpsuryk5P3g.jpg
will this be enough to support the truck from the slider without bending, ripping out, or breaking in another way?

If you’re doing bolt on I think you need more material. 5x3 angle is perfect. If it was weld on, it would be fine. You need room up above the leg for a gusset to keep the legs strong when you hit stuff with your sliders. I use 5x3” 1/4” thick angle for all my sliders and add a gusset up above the leg.

Ok, thanks. After looking at it more and looking around I was thinking 5x3 as well. I wanted to see what others thought as well.

5x3 will allow you to utilize existing holes in the frame too if you place them in the right spots

Oh that would be nice, not have to drill extra holes in the frame.

@Shmellmopwho how wide do you suggest the brackets be (I have 2" tube welded to them)

I have DCLB as well, I’m also using 4 attachments points. So I’ll try and find some 5x3 at the local steel yard. If I can’t find any local I’m going to a larger city so I’ll look for some then.

I really like how the Rocky Road sliders utilize the pinch weld on the cab to further support the vehicle weight.

After almost 5 years of owning my truck and been thinking about sliders the whole time, they are the best option I have come across yet from a design perspective.

Having it attached to both the frame and the body is a good idea from a strength point of view I'm sure. But I would be worried about if it could damage the body of the truck or if it would make the ride inside the cabin unbearably rough with a direct connection from the two of them. I drive washboard roads about every other week when I have time off from work/school so I would be worried about the vibrations being transferred to the cab.
