are there decent offroad loops for 4wd vehicles , ive only been dirt biking there and i noticed those gates lead to trails. Can you actually drive a 10 miles back into those hills? I thought maybe they just lead to a canyon and people just rock crawl and wheel the hillsides.

I’m not sure I’ve only been once. There’s only one way to find out. However I know they have a seperate place. I believe dirt bikes and arcs usually stay in the lower ranch while they usually recommend the 4x4 to go to the upper ranch

i noticed that gate on the left hand side of the road before the main entrance at Lower ranch and i heard that actually was for 4wds ,i looked like a cool spot was just curious how far back in the hills it went. maybe someone on the TW forum knows. That would be cool if it was a 10 mile loop in those hills and not just go 1/2 mile to a mudpit

Decent amount of trails, obstacle courses, Truck hill. Realistically like every OHV you can go from mild to wild. A lot of people run the trail to the top. As long as it’s not wet and rutted up, you’ll be good.

Not quite as big as the lower ranch for dirt bikes but still fairly sizeable

I might be going there to camp this Saturday if you guys want to camp out and have some drinks.

Hollister can be tackled by a stock Tacoma 4x4. I did it in mine when all I had were some stock size MTs and nothing else. There's a couple spots on some of the black diamond trails that do need a little ground clearance to get by, but if you don't mine scraping your frame a hair on some dirt you can power through it (I did).

There's a couple obstacle courses that you can test out your 4x4 on that range from super easy difficulty to "maybe back up and try another line before we get stuck".

There's a trail all the way up to the top of the mountain I think the top is called like Top of the World or something like that, you can see the entire valley from up there. There's a pretty easy trail almost the whole way up, with several trails to get there, a couple black diamond trails IIRC that seem scarier than they actually are, or you can bypass them and stay on what's pretty much a fire road. There is, however, one spot that is SUPER rutted out and requires a little bit of rock crawling to through. It was always that way but years of erosion and idiots burning rubber to get through have caused a pretty gnarly spot. I've never got stuck there or been unable to get by, but it does require picking your line well.

Oooop. Weather looks like Rain on Saturday. That's a no-go for me. That place turns into a frikkin mess when it rains. A buddy and I got stuck on one of the turns on the easy trail that had turned into a total mud pit, almost slid off the mountain side. Luckily we had a guy with us that had 35 MTs and dual lockers.

Im not going this weekend due to the rain, I was planning on riding my dirtbike half the day and checking the 4wd trails after lunch. In the past the Rangers close 3/4 of the trails so i dont want to drive 2hrs and waste my day.
