    Nerf bars, tie-fold tonneau
I have a 17 base model Tacoma with 4cyl and manual trans. I have searched all over for a way to adjust the brightness of the dash lights. Any suggestions?

Also read the forum thread on rusting Lund nerf bars. I had the same experience after just a few months use. I live in an area with lots of snow/ice where they use mag chloride on the roads. Real truck and Lund sent me new set, but I decided to drill the drain holes as suggested in the thread. I used compressed air to dry the tubes then used fogging oil to coat interior. Will pull them off again in spring 19 to see if that works .

And speaking of rust, with only 4K miles and one winter on my truck, I noted several areas of rust on the frame. Complained to dealer who responded “surface rust, no problem”. Since I believe rust is rust, elevated to Toyota corporate. Ultimately Totota agreed to coat frame with their two coat system. It appears to be a paraffin wax coat plus some bituminous material. It’s taking months to cure. Not sure if it will stand up to a pressure washer . Has anyone else had this Toyota undercoating applied?

    Thank You
    Jim

    Welcome to The Forum!

I can't comment on the nerf bars or frame rust, but I do suggest looking at the owner's manual (if you haven't yet) regarding the dash light adjustment.

Dash lights can be adjusted via the trip odometer. Turn right or left to adjust

Welcome to TW...If your nerf bars are black, have them sprayed with bedliner.

Certain components that are cast steel and weld spots are rusted the day it's off the assembly line. Nothing you can do about that. Just surface rust.

Not sure about the Toyota undercoatings.

I had the Toyota undercoating applied to my 05 and it was a temporary fix at best.
