Just got back from a 3-day Mohave Road run. Could not ask for better weather...well maybe 30 deg warmer at night would have been nice.

Quite a few gen 2s and a couple of gen 3s out there. Taco nation keepin it real.

 

...Monte sitting on the edge, any me laying out over it to snap shots down the cliff edge were more than Mike could stomach. "Stop it guys, I can't watch!" he finally said as he headed back to the trucks to wait, letting us know that @mrs.turbodb and @MissBlackdawg would surely not be happy with us....

It was a bit after noon, and as we pulled out of the gas station, I suggested that we eat lunch once we got out of town and back on dirt...Then, as we headed southeast, rain. Not just a little rain either - this was serious, truck-washing rain.

"And so it begins." said Monte over the CB, followed shortly by "F*ck you rain." It wouldn't be the last time...

I assume this is for me .

I know of the trip report section, but as you've noted - it's a bit buried and because of that has relatively low traffic. It's seemed to me in the past that folks here like to see these reports, and so I've posted links to them here - always with a photo or two of trucks camping - so folks can go read the actual report (and see a ton more camping pics) if they're so inclined.

Happy to stop if it's generally not desired.

No, not for you, for everyone in general... This thread is a photo thread, and is great. Like you noted, there is not a lot of awareness on the Trip Reports thread because it is so well buried (I suspect)? Happy New Year!

 

Couple of new photos from this past weekend in the Ozark Mountains:

 

It was as though someone had taken the brightest yellow paint available, mixed it with sunlight, and spread it throughout the landscape. We were truly lucky to be here - a week before or after and we'd have missed this spectacular display!

May convince my buddy to take a short trip down to the Ozark mountains this Spring since it's damn close. We already got FJ Summit and MOAB in the plans this year as well.

 

I don't mind either. I need to join you and represent the single cabs on this site.

 

2nd Gen Truck Camping Photos, cont'd...
On page 13 of this thread (that was in 2012) I ended with photos from July 2012 (on a beach in Baja California). I am not sure if I had posted more photos after that in this thread, which is now up to 318 pages!

May 2013, Shell Island, Baja California (Km. 26, south of San Felipe). Apologies for the grainy pics, my camera was set on a low resolution:
















Airing the tires back up once off the beach. Street pressure (34 psi) is reduced to sand pressure (18 psi) for flotation.

 

Sept. 2014... back to Shell Island, the place we go to the most and the primary reason I have four-wheel-drive vehicles...











Trying to just post photos of the truck at the camp, but it is difficult to not include some of what compels us to go to Baja, so much! See my Trip Reports for more photos and the details.

 

July 2015: Baja Trip to Bahía Concepción...


First night (and the next) on Shell Island.

Bahía El Coyote on the larger Bahía Concepción. Isn't Baja beautiful?


Those are camping palapas down at El Coyote... empty! Why aren't there more Tacoma campers in Baja?

Nice setup... Kind of a strange question, but what type of folding table are you using. Looking for something similar.

 

2017 was mostly working trips to Baja (collecting data for a new guide, sponsored by Baja Bound Mexican Auto Insurance). I may post any photos of camps with the truck, later...

We did have one family trip on Memorial Day Weekend, to Shell Island... it was pretty crowded with 4 adults and a 4-year-old grandson in the Tacoma!
