Does anyone have issues while trying to make a Bluetooth call from your phone while wearing a LTE series 3 Apple Watch? I keep getting call fails. If I put the watch into airplane mode, works just fine. Any info would be great!

I have not had any issues with mine as of yet. I have made and received calls from the Entune system while wearing the watch.

No probs for me too. Sorry about yours.
Have you kept your phone & watch updates on? Wondering if it’s something with one of the update versions (new or old one)?

Yes I’m using an iPhone X , however it’s running beta software. May have some issues with that.

I had this issue for months now. I’ve been to the dealer 4 times and they even replaced it last month and I still had issues. My calls on Bluetooth thru Entune would disconnect and my stereo would reset every time. I brought it in again last week and they said it’s possibly my Apple Watch that’s causing the issue. When it’s synced and I get a call it messes up Entune trying to read with Apple Watch or my phone. I was told to not use my watch for 2 weeks and not sync my contacts. So far it’s working..no calls have been dropped and my stereo hasn’t resetted BUT guess what? I’m having music skip thru Apple Music on Bluetooth. SMH

This is sounding a bit familiar. Try putting your watch in airplane mode while driving and see what happens. Curious to see if it works normal for you as well. I wonder if there is a pairing order that needs to be changed. Truck first then watch, etc..

That is the route that I took. I paired the phone to the truck, and then my watch to the phone. Have had no issues.

Interesting. I am having the same issue but didn't know why. My daughter recently gave me the watch and I have tried getting used to wearing one but couldn't so yesterday I gave it to my wife. I am now anxious to see if my problem goes away.

Hi scottsglock29, can you elaborate a bit on how you fixed this? I have a 2017 4runner where the head unit crashes/reboots all the time when I wear my apple watch, but it's perfect when I keep the watch in airplane mode. I tried unpairing everything and then repairing the truck and phone; then later my watch back to the phone, but entune still crashed after. I also tried keeping my watch in airplane mode when the truck starts and makes the connection to my phone, then take my watch out of airplane mode after, but the system still crashed. What should I be doing differently?

Its possible a Bluetooth override between 3 devices (radio/phone/watch) Try disconnecting a devise and see if the radio functions that way.

Thanks guys. As it happens I might have solved the problem, I just need to test it more. Based on a post above I tried clearing the bluetooth pairing from the truck and from the phone, then re-pairing without syncing contacts, and there's been no issues since doing this 2 days ago. I also updated to the latest iOS and watchOS over the last week, so that may have helped too.

This is kind of a small miracle because this problem has plagued me since I got the 4runner last year. If I forget to put my watch in airplane mode, it would only be a matter of time until making or getting a call or using the mobile assistant, and seeing the head unit reboot.

Unfortunately the entune crashes continued after I thought it was fixed. I'm hoping to get more specifics on what these two posts are suggesting...

jbj1523 - I wonder if there is a pairing order that needs to be changed. Truck first, then watch, etc.

scottsglock29 - That is the route that I took. I paired the phone to the truck, and then my watch to the phone. Have had no issues.

Do they mean to completely unpair the phone, truck, and watch, then set up the pairing again of the truck first, then watch? Or simply keep the watch in airplane mode each day I get in the truck, so the existing pairing takes place first between the phone and truck, then take the watch out of airplane mode so it can pair up. I tried both ways but I must be missing something. Fully unpairing the watch means wiping it of all data and setting it up as a new device which takes about 45 minutes.

@Boricua, thanks for your post above. I did disconnect a device (the apple watch) and it eliminates the crashes. But I like the watch and don't want to keep it in airplane mode, there should be a way to make everything work in harmony.

I’ve had this same issue in my ‘15 TRD OR Taco. They replaced the radio, I’ve tried every Bluetooth pairing order, and nothing works. It’s definitely either the radio or in Entune itself as my Ford has zero issues and work Chevy has zero issues...besides the poor backup camera. Come on Toyota, fix your sh*t. One guy I listen to says that he’d call entune a dumpster fire if it wasn’t so insulting to dumpster fires.
