    Tires are important.

Why not gather up a few options based on your functional needs (roads driven, miles pvmt vs offroad, climate etc etc), then worry about looks as a secondary item?

You'll never be in a pucker up situation and afterwards say 'I'm glad my tires looked aggressive'.

My time in drag racing, SCCA events and 10's of thousands of off road miles as a cross country surveyor created my desire for grip.

Don't get me wrong. I dig looks too. But always secondary to grip.

Unless you have multiple wheel/tire combos for varying circumstances you are picking a compromise. So pick the best you can.

if you don't off road there's really no pros to an aggressive tire other than yeah sure they look cool, if my truck never saw dirt It would be sitting on pilot sports 8 months out of the year

Quiet/comfy on road and great off road traction, but not the greatest road handling.
If you want similar as above and better on road handling/cornering, go with G2’s.

I really like my Yokohama Geolander A/T G015. The tread is pretty mild for an A/T tire. They have an aggressive looking sidewall. They’re basically a highway tire that doesn’t look like it belongs on a minivan. They’re as quiet on the street as the Cooper H/T tires that I had before. I don’t know how they perform off-road. I never leave the pavement.

But caring about grip by default includes safety. Grip to go and grip to turn is by default grip to stop.

Most 'unsafe' driving is the loose nut behind the wheel anyway. ;)

It's actually why I think an autocross driving school (like EVO) is good for everyone, but especially kids. It forces you to learn skills that apply to making one a better street driver. Concentration, looking ahead, anticipation, braking technique, etc etc. All things that are better than how much 'thump' you have or what hot babe is texting you.

And all this chatter about aggressive and quiet...... sure, some are quieter than others. But big block tires will never be really quiet.

And they will get loud faster than other tires from wear patterns, especially if you go for a bit with a bad alignment.
