The only vehicle the 2.7 is acceptable in.

Even an Orkin or Ecolab employee won't buy a 2.7 for a personal vehicle.

You could buy this. It’s definitely bigger. Stronger. Plus it has that amazing plastic shield.

Or you could buy this. It’s smaller... but it definitely performs better.

Sure they would! Especially if they want to go up a hill without spitting smoke! :boink::hattip:

On a serious note. You definitely have to know what to expect from the truck. As the OP has owned one before he obviously knows what to expect power wise, so go for it! The 2tr is the last true reliable motor for a Tacoma imo. Too much stupid tech on the 2gr.

It’s stupid simple and overbuilt.. nobody can argue that.

Just let him do his thing. He’s an artist. Unfortunately, he isn’t always on our side, but when he is, it’s magnificent.

You have to take the good with the bad.

I just call it like I see it. I don't even think my local dealer has ever had a new 2.7 3rd gen. There's no compelling reason to buy one and spend a bunch of money tarting it up. It's kind of like a real big girl that goes and gets her hair and nails done.

Don't worry I like roasting Voodoo Blue Pro owners just as much as SR owners.

How do you know what color Pro someone bought? They tell you and 50 million others about it

No you gotta go with a smaller girl. You can’t go with a big girl. The I4 is petite. You can say she’s all bone and no ass. But she’s certainly not an oxride.

    The math just isn’t there.

From what I've seen, with the 4's it remains good but only to an extent.
Heavily dependent on wheel size (and weight!!) too... Don't forget that not all A/T tires weigh the same and not all wheels are the same for a given diameter.
I run a relatively light armor package (1/4 aluminum IFS and LCA skids from RCI, weld on sliders from Avid Offroad) and I haven't seen any negative change in mileage.
I also run very light wheels and tires. Enkei RPT's that are only second to big baller Volk TE37's on the scale.

Also worth keeping in mind that the Auto 4's have 4.30 gearing from the factory.

No hills at my local Applebees or Forever21, but the 3.5 and cast side steps are more welcoming for women that are a few extra pounds. The lowly 2.7 won't be able to get out of the parking lot with her shopping and food hauls

And then they pull all their Fox suspension off and put kings on instead anyways.

Which is ridiculous. Everyone knows fox has been doing it longer, winning races longer, and uses better materials.

Kings are rad. That’s real shit. But sometimes I think noobs just say “I want KINGS” because they just don’t know shit.

Even better Pro Comp or Rancho. There's no shortage of people that take high quality OEM parts off just to install junkier parts for a look

I'm not complaining when they sell it to me for cheap tho... :D

Actually I'm going ADS simply because they are local and they don't mix "consumer grade" stuff in their product lines. Just need to save up the money! :anonymous:

2.7L is a great engine. It'll haul at max payload, tow at max capacity and can exceed any speed limit. Easy oil changes, lots of room under the hood, quiet and smooth. Might be different with an auto trans but mine is great.

If you are trying to impress someone go with the v6. If you want a reliable, efficient and proven drive train that'll save you some money to boot, go 2tr-fe.

Just buy the 2.7 and slap a V6 emblem on the tailgate.

    No one will ever know....

Yep same here, usually I'm right at 19 MPG. Lately I've been at 18.5 according to my ultra gauge. Don't know if its due to the "winter gas" or not. Yet My truck sits level and I'm on a set of TRDOR wheel set, which is about 4lbs heavier per wheel.
