For everyone asking about how i fixed it and what looks like toyota used as a basis for the TSB seals

NOTE: the lil line between the a pillar and quarter panel is not needed, nor is the middle of the 3 1/4in line on the door seal.

Do the back doors need to be done as well? How far down the front and back?

So only the one left most seal is needed of the 3 in your quoted photo?

This is awesome. First solution I’ve seen that shows the noise is actually coming from about where the side view mirror is.

What size “stuff” should be put in there? Just curious of dims. I’m sure some of the weather stripping linked above would do the trick?

The right most is the easiest one and is typically where people are putting the larger weatherstripping.

EDIT - I simply used 1/4in dripper pipe to fill all the voids so i for sure didnt have to listen to that horrible noise.

I would say no, unless needed. I just drove 1100 miles after post #61 mod, not a sound the entire trip, over 85mph a few times. Might be a little overkill, Toyota only did half the front and top edge, I figured more was better in this case.

I bought the weather stripping from Amazon from one of the previous posts. 30-40 mph gusts here in NJ, I took it for a drive at+/- 80 mph down the hwy both north and south and no kazoo sound. Thanks all you awesome Tacoma owners on this site!!!!

Hey Dan! Good work. I posted the Amazon link and someone else posted a link to a similar product from Lowe’s. I haven’t purchased either yet but will soon.
    I’m in NJ as well.
It’s been super windy the past few days. Definitely gotta get this little mod done ASAP. TW community has helped fix and save so much on my truck since I’ve been here.

Yep. That did the trick. Just drove ~600 miles on I5 through central cal. Decent cross winds, not a peep.

A+ to all who shared pics.

I was having the kazoo noise almost constantly on the freeway and I just went to Home Depot bought 1/4 irrigation hose and wedged it in between the wheather stripping and so far no noise cost me about $5 and took no more than 10 min

I called Miller Toyota in Peoria, AZ and was told the weatherstripping and installation will be $130 plus taxes. I’m getting er done this week if they can get the parts in.

Put another 200miles on it through coastal central California. No kazoo!

    Cheapo weatherstripping fix FTW.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I only got the kazoo noise from the passenger door so I ended up ordering the new OEM door seal from a dealership. Replaced it myself and have not heard it since. Driver's side door is still old style door seal and has not made a noise since day 1.

I ran my 5/32 line from a couple of inches from the side mirror up to a couple of inches from the top corner.

    20190106_121602.jpg

Can't even tell it's there when not pulling the seal back.

    20190106_121538.jpg

Hopefully this solves it. My trial run with a shorter piece showed great promise last week.

    Update:

Yesterday we had some big winds...45-50 mph. The kind of gusts that pull on the steering wheel at highway speeds.

A couple of times I heard a bit of faint kazoo from the driver's side. Nothing from the passenger side. I'm not discouraged....because it had gotten to the point where any crosswind would cause the noise quite loudly.

Both sides have been kazoo free for a week and half to that point. So for now, I'm happy. It's not often that we get those kinds of winds. So it was an exceptional day. I could try going up a size in the vacuum line. But I don't want to displace the seal anymore than I have to.

At some point I may look into the revised seals. But for now a 95+% fix is good enough for me...especially given how bad it had gotten.
