    Hello all,

I've been recently considering/debating the idea of selling my beloved Tacoma so that I'll be able to fund my inner automotive enthusiast, which is jumping all around from building a cheap homemade rally car to some bigger projects like recreating a Jurassic Park YJ. No matter what i do i will still need a daily driver and I definitely still want a Toyota.

    My plan is simple.

I want to import a 1996-2002 Toyota Land Crusier Prado (J90) 2/3 Door from Japan. Now from my research these are very reliable vehicles (not that i doubted it, being a Toyota.) but I've been very concerned with the issue of getting parts for it. Now i know the Gasoline version uses the same 3.4L as the 4runner and 2nd gen Tacoma so that would be easy but i want to be difficult and potentially go for the way cooler, rarer 3.0L (1KD-FTV) Diesel engine with a 5-speed manual, since i am already spending the money on importing it and because cool factor. :)

I've been finding it very difficult to find information on these vehicles and what parts are cross-compatible with Toyota vehicles in North America, obviously I'm not expecting the engine parts to be found over here but I'd like to be able to go through my normal parts supplier for basic things like brakes, fuel related parts and suspension components + really anything i can so that i don't have to go to a specialized parts importer who will change me an arm and a leg.

If anyone can supply me with a forum, PDF or information on the parts side of these vehicles that would be very much appreciated.

BTW I am from Canada so our import laws are 15 years of age or older, so i can import one. Sorry all you Americans :p.

Also if anyone has any information on the vehicle's reliability or any other pertinent information please feel free to share.

    Thanks.

PFA of the vehicle in mind
