The cable adjustment is mainly for adjusting the cable when the shoes are already adjusted properly....like when replacing damaged cables

I had to do this on my 99 Tacoma at 225,000 miles. The adjustment for 1st gens are under the truck. I bought my 2nd gen used, so I’m not sure why I had to this, like I said it never worked. I adjusted the new shoes until they were snug to the new drums, then braked in reverse several times. The truck brakes great. A quick google search led me to the cable adjustment.

*I also replace all the hardware in the drums.

I’ve got to do this on the runner. It has a caliper emergency brake that’s activated by the cable. E-brake is going to the floor and you can actually drive with it on it’s out so bad. I looked to see about adjusting it and only thing I could find was the same you did with the cable. The runner actually has a separate disc for the e-brake. I can’t find any info on that. Wonder if they changed the design or something?

The only YouTube video that I found was for 2005 4 runner, it was similar to what I did. Yours sounds totally different.

The cup holder just pulls straight out with little effort. I assume this is where the kids hide their stash. ;)

He said he replaced the battery last month and didn’t leave his lights on. I told him to let it roll backwards then try it again. It started, I didn’t even have to get up. lol

I’ll have look at it, he’s either got a loose cable or his starter is going bad.

Does the 4R not have small shoes inside the rotor hat?

Nope. There's a smaller rotor behind the bigger one. I can't find a damn thing about it anywhere. Almost wonder if they changed it mid year or something to the shoes. Idk. May try just tightening the cable and see how that works out.

I know that's the only thing I can find on it. Weird.

It's getting traded in on a Tundra in about 6 months anyway. No worries.

My son brought his snare drum home to practice. He’s practicing now, at 8pm, it’s loud af! I feel bad for my neighbors, but area competition is coming up, they can suffer with me. :rimshot::rockband::rimshot::rockband::rimshot:
