did anyone get the option under coating protection for the sheet metal? I think im going to brush some on myself, since the dealership wanted 900+ for it. Thought i could do it for a fraction of the price, not sure its necessary though

$900+. Ouch. My guess is that was including a warranty with the product and they probably outsourced the job.

Having worked at 2 large autogroups, one did their own undercoating. They actually got the product free. The company that supplied the material made all their money if we were able to sell the warranty. The larger one I worked for didn’t believe in undercoating and didn’t offer it. If a customer demanded it we would outsource it with local companies.

That being said I did my Tacoma myself. I just bought a U-pol gravitex kit and sprayed it myself on my lift at work. Product has held up great the 2 years it’s been on and I never got the chance to put a second coat on last year. Most guys here are against the rubberized coating and perfect fluid film. I personally like the rubberized stuff and recommend it on a brand new vehicle. Fluid film is good too. Both have their advantages. Anyways if your up to spending an hour or so of your time and not afraid to get dirty, just do it yourself. If you want to stay clean for a couple hundred you can have a local rust proof place go over their options and do something for a few hundred bucks. A lot cheaper than around a grand at your dealer.
