just hooked them back up to check that. I got hyper flash on both sides and no turn signals with brakes, same as you. I'm just going to get my money back. It appears there are some serious quality control problems in that company (Spyder), and It does not look like they test the shit before going to market to make sure it actually works. One of the reverse lights didn't work on my first set. who know how long these would actually last before more stuff quit working.

thanks for pointing that other issue out..

So wanted to give these Akkon taillights a chance and found a good deal on eBay to try them out. Just like anything on eBay though you're always taking a chance. I have several different styles of stock taillights already and have been running the winjets for the last 6 months. One of the first winjets leaked after my first car wash on one side and then the process to get it swapped out took me a couple months. Then for the last 4 months they've been okay except they started cracking near the bottoms of them but not leaking. I did switch back to stock for about a week but got bored with how outdated they look to me.
These Akkons seem a lot better sealed between the housings and the lens than the winjets. However I do wonder if in the future I might run into the same issue of cracking similar to the winjets because the lens overlaps the housings unlike the stock setup. There are minor details though around the finish on the plastic of the lens where I feel that the quality is better then other aftermarket tail lights I've seen out there.
Again I did buy these through eBay and got them at such a good deal it was worth a try to see how these function. I had met someone a couple weeks ago that was running the tinted version of these lights and I really liked how they looked because the tint was lighter that I've seen other manufacturers have in the past. Here in California they can be pretty strict on tinted tail lights. The set I have is the clear lens similar to TRD Pro tail lights. I'm going to post some more pictures later in the daylight of the lens. And hopefully give more feedback later as I go along using these.
So far so good these are functioning properly unlike other posters have said. I guess I got lucky.

^ Do you have the link to the cheaper ones? How are the turn signals i.e. brightness, functionality, etc.

So when you press on the brake and use turn signal at same time does it actually blink? That was the main issue people have been having.

Nope it was not designed that way. From what I learned from tacomabeast is that first off I have the Akkon model and they are selling the Spyder model ( which I honestly think is the same) and Marcos states that the issue people had is with the resistors not working and thus causing hyperflash. He's trying to combat that issue by buying resistors separate and to send them out as needed for non-working ones
But yes this turn signal stops blinking when the brakes are applied. Now on the winjets they have a whole separate row just for the turn signals which I think is the only way to really do it. However, problem with the winjets was that row of blinkers was so small it was hard to see the blinker at times. Where as this setup as long as you're not stepping on the brake has a very bright blinking as all of them are working at the same time.

Definitely the only thing that sucks in this setup is if you're at a stoplight stepping on the brakes nobody knows that you're actually turning (from behind you) other than my bright mirror Meso turn signals and front signals. But then when you take your foot off the brake to turn that rear light will blink again. When thinking of this functionally though, does the person behind you need to know this when you are at a stop that you are turning? Whereas the front and mirror signals are the ones that really let people know where you are going.

Gotcha gotcha ya if it's same row acting as brake light and turn signal makes sense it's only going to be able to perform one function at a time and brake light would be primary. Bummer though makes these a deal breaker for me but they look nice.

    Thanks for your input!

Is there a way to just modify the turn signal/hazard relay by using a different resistor? I did it on my Acura and solder out the stock one for a .24ohm in order to run front and rear LED turn signal with no hyperflash. .02cents

So my resistors are working fine but honestly I was thinking the same thing you were saying. If mine ever did go bad and started to hyper flash I was just going to wire in a new resistor which I can get at my local light shop ddm tuning. Either that or I was going to contact Marco at tacomabeast to get a new resistor.

I stand corrected guys. I figured out something today that might possibly be a quality control issue or the seller I bought mine from made a booboo when preparing these lights. I used to be a stereo and alarm installer so pretty good at trouble shooting things and figured this out today. These Akkon lights that I have DO IN FACT blink even when the brakes are applied. At least that is what they are supposed to do. This works both for hazards and for turn signals. I finally got around to playing with the lights and realized the middle plug and the top plug were switched somehow inside the housing. Easily fix: push both plugs inside the housing and switch them to come out of the opposite holes. Here is a picture of how the wiring SHOULD look. Now everything works as it should.
Again I never had the hyper flash issue others had with bad resistors and the Spyder/Akkon lights. But I have to say that after owning OEM TRD Pro, 2017 Sport, 2018 Offroad, and Winjet lights (first set leaked and second set cracked), these are my favorites so far. The housings seem better sealed and appear more like OEM.

Meso, you know of any decent aftermarkets? Looking for a blacked out look without smoked lenses, led of course. Also pondering cutting mine open for paint, etc but never did it before.

I think the best bet for aftermarket is currently these from Spyder. They work the way they are supposed to and they don't feel cheap. I'm not finding many complaints from anyone either.

    Thanks for the reply.

I know their headlights are terrible. I have a 2nd gen and just checked their lights for mine and they dont seem aesthetically appealing

Fair enough I think everyone and their brother is after Meso's 3rd gen lights a lot of the aftermarket stuff quality aside is just plain ugly lol.

Good luck on the hunt man :)
