I just picked up a hi-rise camper shell for my Tacoma. It is the same as in the picture attatched, but it is bare on top. Once I get it painted, I am going to want to put tracts and crossbars on it. Do I just need tracts to attach crossbars, like the one here - https://letgo.onelink.me/O2PG/d8df3718?

Are there bars that don't require tracts, just by hugging the sides/windows?

Has anyone had any issues with wind while carrying luggage/gear with a hi rise?

No, you can mount the bases where you want, they make a kit for that, but why would you want to? The tracks give you more versatility. Not only can you adjust the bars but it gives you a place to mount things like awnings, side lights, etc.
    Mounting examples: https://explore.yakima.com/custom-install#fiberglassfixed

You can still get artificial gutters if you wanted to go that route as well.

I'd recommend buying long bars then cutting them shorter if you don't like them. Mine are the 66" round bars. If buying new, get the new aero bars, the kayak carriers won't roll on them like they do on the round bars.
