Spouse of kindergarten teacher (13th year) here. Hard job, you all work your tails off, deal with bad parents, poor requirements from the state/Feds, and are (very) underpaid. Much respect to you all!

I've been teaching English in the Bay Area for 18 years now (11th and 12th graders). I still love it and I've gotten good at getting the hours down to a manageable level. It's really hard the first few years and I can understand why so may give up, but once you get better at it and you get up the pay scale a ways, it's nice. I like the kids a lot and the time off is amazing.
