SO after installing the d-rings and using the the suggested washer to make it swivel, i was having creaking noises coming from my bed. Turns to after driving for weeks, the screws rattled loose. So I tighten the up, but to the point where the rings don't swivel anymore. I don't want to loosen the bolts again only to have them rattle loose. I have no swivel now. Are there any other options together the swivel back?

clean up both parts with some degreaser and add a couple of drops of blue locktite. tighten to to the point it still swivels and you should be good.

yeah good idea, but if i don't tighten the bolts down, the bed starts squeaking. I'll give it a shot and try it out.

oops, thought these might be additional d-rings you added rather than the ones that actually hold down the bed.
I do notice that the factory original d-rings don't swivel very easy at all so they are probably on fairly snug

No worries. I didn't use any locktite but i did re adjust. They seem to swivel a bit more but im going to need to check my bed every so often to see if it come loose.

I want to do this d-ring mod - been watching for a while. I'm interested in putting d-rings in the front using the bed bolts, AND I want to keep the swivel.

I see where you can buy the Toyota accessory d-rings with their own backing plate but those seem like a compromise at best. You either mount them w/o using the bed bolt, or you use them with the bed bolt but loose the swivel.

What I don't understand tho -- can't we buy the exact d-ring that comes with the truck under the rear bed bolts?

Did this mod a while back and love it. D-rings have to be drilled out a bit and I add 2 smaller washers on top of the large washer so that it would swivel. Also had to lightly grind the threads holding the original large wash so it could be removed. Then I used a 3.5" hole saw to cut bedmat holes. Have 8 bed tie down points now and love it.

Can you count how many D-Rings? May have gone a little over board...now no need for the OEM bed cleats. :D
