My frame broke on my 01 Tacoma it’s life has been lived in Wisconsin! Heavy salt and the bad metal that was put into he frame caused its demise... it has 183,000 on the body is very light rust what should I do?? Is there a total Tacoma that needs an engine out there?

How good of shape is the rest of the truck? Is it worth salvaging with a new frame?

Salvaging it with a new Frame will cost more than the truck is worth.

Like no one ever put $20,000.00 into a vehicle worth $500.00

Then maybe I only do projects like that

Did you see if it would be covered by Toyota. Not sure if they ended the campaign on those but if yours snapped I would atleast try and see if they will do a frame replacement.

My buddy made out like a bandit when he bought his 98. Paid like 6k for it and Toyota gave him like 9k for it over a year later under the by back

Toyota won’t do anything for you, only a few 2003 and 2004 trucks still qualify for the frame replacement campaign. Your best bet is to sell it for parts, replace the frame entirely, or try to patch it.

They make several nice patch kits for 1st gen. frames - specd. for the " Usual" problem areas, weld in plates ,etc. Have seen pics. on here.

Look in SoCal for frames if you want to save the truck. No rust there!

bang your frame thoroughly with a hammer and it will show you if it's worth trying to patch it or not

    if yes:
    https://www.autorust.com/product-category/toyota/
    or make your own patches

though, if you don't know how to weld or don't have a friend who does, it's going to be $$$$ to have it done to a shop

wow... this is waaaaay beyond repair

It would help us if you post pictures of the exterior of the truck as well, so we could have an idea of the general condition of the truck. Also, what engine? automatic or manual?

but it's not going to be worth much...
