Thanks! In retrospect the silver hides road dust a lot better than the magnetic.

I ordered the 3 row Opt7, but got thinking as I looked between my bumper and tailgate - I assume that the light I purchased is mounted with tape - if that's the case, then I'll have to "rip it off" any time I want to lower the spare as it will cover the hole. I was thinking I could adhere some magnetic bars to it, but then it just means it'd be that much easier for someone to steal (plus, if the rear is metal, dirt could work its way between and scratch the paint). Anyone have an ideal workaround?

I think the one you got should have metal clips as an optional way to mount the light bar just for the reason of the spare tire hole. did it not come with the clips? I was about to order me the same one as I saw it mentioned the metal clips.

If no clips then you can get some strong velcro as another option for mounting and removal if needed.

Mine did come with clips, but I wanted to see what others were doing about mounting. I like the combo idea gatriguy mentioned (and the trailer connector mention). I have some 3m velcro for command strips from Lowes that hold 16lbs, but I think what I should be using are the dual lock strips from Amazon as they seem more weather resistant than the cloth velcro. My concern is that the light is already 0.5" thick, and the dual lock may make it stick out so far that lowering the tailgate may damage the light.

Actually the "3M Scotch Extreme" strips I used matched the amount of offset, 2/16" the clips give when installed (I removed the two sided tape from the OPT7 light in the sections I applied the strips). Then its another 5/16" to the tailgate. So plenty of clearance. Remember too, the area you are placing this is recessed somewhat..

Some may may not like the answer.... but the 4 clips are held with self tapping screws. I did however drill pilot holes once I carefully measured and marked it all off. Just wish I had painted the silver clips black prior to install... although only very small portion shows..

Ah dang, yea...don't want to drill so I'll just looking more into the tape.
Did you get wiring harness or did you hard wire them in?

I figured with all of the drilling some mods require, such as sliders, bed stiffeners, bumpers, ect...that these smaller than 1/8" holes I could live with... I used the wiring harness I mentioned above. It required several zip ties to keep it tucked away and behind the bumper. Even the white reverse wire is connected using a bullet connector to this harness so I didn't need to remove the taillight to tap into there. Added bonus with the reverse led's is that it provides more light for the backup camera...!

Why the white reverse? You got the single row which only has red.

I have the Opt7 with 3 rows in red. I like it. I mounted it with 3M velcro (the good stuff) so I can take it off to get the spare out. It's held on very well.

This is the velcro I used. It's pricey but industrial strength. I used four ~2" strips.

That is expensive. I think I'll go with the SJ3560 clear, which according to 3M's website, is the next step up from the one you got, but it's about half the price!

The OPT 7 Redline single LED light bar is not just red. It has all the features : on, brake, right/left turn signal AND the reverse white light. The triple does give more LED's and the sequential turn signal i.e Mustang style..
admittedly would not have gotten a strip that just had the red only...

That stuff technically holds less weight, but it's more than enough for the bar. :)

This is exactly the info I was looking for! I didn't want to tap into my reverse lights, so this is great news.
