Water leak need advice

Hey guys looks like I have a melted/glue failed weather seal on the top left corner of my driver side door. Had heavy rain the passed few days and had water coming in. I'm out of warrenty since I'm at 37k miles. You guys have any suggestions on how to re-seal this. Will silicone do the trick?

 

Honestly, go see your dealer and 'just pay the man' and have it done right.

 

3M weather strip adhesive.

 

Looks like an easy fix. If it were me, I'd ask the dealer for a quote to fix it out of warranty.

I would clean off the old crud & reaply this stuff. I've used it before & works great

 

Those seals are very easy to replace. Remove and replace. But ask dealer if they will do a good will warranty repair

 

I had mine replace twice by the dealer. The door seals and weatherstrips are defective per Toyota on 2017s. Idk what they meant by it but I was under warranty. Maybe there is a TSB out on it? I would take it back.

 

Trade it in.

If that’s where it’s leaking I doubt the leak is due to the glue. The glue is only there to hold it in place, not make it watertight. Squashing that rubber between the door and frame is what makes it water tight. So, either your door is out of alignment at the top, the rubber has been crushed / malformed / wornout so it’s too small to fill the gap, or what glue you have is holding it in the wrong place. I’d take a close look at the gap once the door is shut and compare it to the other side to see what the real problem is.

 

I think it's leaking at the actual strip along the top where the hump in the weatherstrip is.
