Have not had an estimate made on the truck yet, but wanted to hear anyone's thoughts on repairability, potential costs and the frame damage...

Exactly what I'm thinking! I just want the shop to do it is all. I have my own projects that I can't fall behind on. I'm just worried that the insurance company will stiff me on the value of the truck, and won't want to do repairs. Idk just happened yesterday, but I already don't like this. Been through something similar before...

Can’t see why they would stiff you. Bumper is cheap. Bumper mounts are cheap. Hitch is cheap. Can’t see bending that frame back out straight or replacing the end section being more than 500$. 1000$ or less and it should be fixed

Haha I know!!! Makes me think twice about modding up my truck with custom bumpers and what not. Sometimes factory parts are designed for these certain purposes.

Use that insurance check for a nice offroad bumper and some 33's baby!

Doesn't look bad at all! Take the claim money and buy a bumper of your choice.

That's good to know. Why I'm here I guess.
There is damage to the front, I guess I should include that. I was just more concerned about possible frame issues. I will post more pics...

    ^^^

    X2!!!

Looks like the parts that hold the bumper on were bent, and they can be removed from the frame and replaced. What hit you anyway? It looks like a 2004-2007 Chevy Malibu...

This is after I got rear-ended by a texting driver in an '06 Highlander, back in March 2015. There was no structural damage, but the bumper had to be replaced. Total cost including parts and labor was about $1,200.

Insurance will stiff you but just wait to see how much they will give you and go get your own quote before they do so you can tell them AFTER this is what another shop quote you.

Reminds me of the truck I learned to drive stick in, except it was just a '91 Toyota pickup and not a Tacoma...

It was a Malibu I believe. There was a car stalled out on the road ahead of me. I slowed down and then WHAM. Woman creams me from behind and lifted my truck off the ground into the stalled out Buick in front of me.
